Default JR XP9303 Spectrum

Hey guys,

I'm kind of new to spectrum and the 2.4Ghz so I wanted to ask you guys a few questions. I heard that people are having a lot of problems using the 2.4Ghz system on their JR radios. Well I have a JR XP9303 and I wanted to know if it is a good idea to buy the 2.4 module for that radio or sell it and buy a different radio with the system already in it. My problem is that I have a lot of JR receivers that I use on all my airplanes and I don't want to replace them with Futaba which I heard is running well on the 2.4Ghz. Thats why I would like to get the 2.4Ghz module for my radio so that I can fly the 72 frequency on my old airplanes with old 72 receivers and 2.4 on new airplanes with 2.4 receivers.I would really like to know what you guys think and hope that you can help me make tha good choice.

John

As long as you're using the Spektrum modules correctly, you won't have any issues.

What I did was to tighten the coax cable down tight, and just pull the antenna off of the mount that goes down into the transmitter when I took the module out. I never loosened the antenna from the module.

If you turn the transmitter on without the antenna hooked up, you'll fry the module. If you keep the antenna hooked up to the module, then you won't have the chance to fry the module up, because the antenna will always be connnected. Just be sure that your module seats properly, my first module I needed to bend the tabs out for it to snap into the back of my 10X securely, but other than that, I have not seen any issues with the aftermarket module. I haven't seen any instances with the Spektrum modules personally that have caused issues and weren't due to improper setup, or use of the equipment. You shouldn't have any trouble with the module based 2.4 if you use it correctly.
