Default Help with Lipo

Hello all,

I am new to electric and lipo and need help with the lingo.

I have a CAP 232 with Hacker - Brushless Motor A20-20L Evo [HBM-A20-20L], and, a Castle Creations - Thunderbird 18 Brushless Electric Speed Control ESC [CSETB18] all from Stevens aero.

They recomend a ThunderPower RC - 1320mAh 11.1v Pro-Lite 3S (JST Connector) [THP13203SJPL].

What is 3S?
What is P?

Any help would be great.

Bob

Bob,
3S means that it is a 3 cell LiPo 3.7v a cell. The C rating i.e. 20C means that the safe discharge current is 20 times the cell rating. Your 1320mAh pack if it is a 20C could be discharged safely at 1320 X 20= 26,400.00 or up to 26.4 Amps. LiPo packs can be charged at 1C, which for your pack is 1.32 Amps. I'm not sure about P, P generaly stands for power in watts which is Voltage X Current. So at max discharge let's say 20C your 11.1 volt pack could output 26.4 X 11.1 = 293.04 watts.

Hope this helps:
Ben

3S1P means 3 cells in series and 1 in parallel. 3.7 per cell time 3 = 11.1 volts and typically a 1320Mah will give 10 to20 minute fights depending on you throttle control. If you use 3S2P, you would get longer flights at the expense of more weight.

With a aerobat, you really dont want to add weight!

Keep it light an floaty, you'll have more fun.
