It's still a cool design regardless if a real one will ever exist someday.

I was thinking of 85" in bare airframe weight and around 1400 Squares?

Your absolutely right, no such full scale ever existed, Ive read up on the story of it from the original Italian designer Mirco to the stolen design and the German built composite version, Donut models rights to model, Hobby lobby being the only distibutor with the rights. But Mirco, Donut Hobbies, and Hobby Lobby call it the GEEBEE R3, so will I and even though it was one mans fantasy, why cant it be mine too...lol If the Kimbles actually build it, then there will be a full scale version. Google is a wonderful thing.

Gary, you may want to contact Kevin Kimble at Kimble Ent. in Florida b4 going the GeeBee R3 route, there may be an issue there. Maybe you could get the rights to build a Large one. I think even a 50cc might be a large plane, the little Hobby Lobby arf is 59" ws and its pretty darn big. Our LHS has one Ive been drooling on.

What I'd like in an ARF:

1. All wood surfaces sealed. From one end of the bird to the other.
2. Landing gear structure that will survive the real world. Fields are different, they have bumps, holes, and dips. We make mistakes from time to time and come in harder than we should. I'll gladly give up a few ounces for a more durable airplane and it'd be nice if this was taken more into consideration. I end up adding material to these areas anyway cause nothing is more frustrating (for me) than getting to the field and being grounded over one less than perfect landing.

3. YES, and R-3 GEE BEE that doesn't cost a fortune!

Can't think of anything else at the minute but that'd make my day.

how about a 96" span Laser 200; with a finish weight of 15 1/2 pounds.

Good point. The landing gear structure should be designed such that it's not relying on a glue bond. Fact is, the Chinese workers that assemble the models most likely don't understand the construction of the aircraft. They're just trained to glue part A to part B. All the while the boss is on them to not waste anything, reduce costs, go faster etc.
A tab and slot design would be more robust and less prone to failure from lack of glue.

95" corsair with beefed up landing gear area with retracts installed and working flaps.
95" p47 thunderbolt with the same. THAT WOULD NOT BREAK THE BANK.
