Ok time to post some pics of the progress, Powerbox, receivers, switches and extensions, what remains is mounting the ignitions and plumbing the fuel and smoke lines.
One additional rudder servo.
There will always be miscellaneous stuff to finish.

i think your running out of room for your equipment! must be hard trying to squeeze your hands in the fuse to do up those cable ties!

Actually i bet your back is killing! you would have to bend over to work on it standing up! but to big to put on a bench!
Man what a hard life! i dont think it's safe for you to be working on it, maybe give it to me!

snap...

i realize that this pales in comparison to your new bird but.... we just got our 40center cubby from bill and man, if the construction and finish is even half as nice on the big extra you have to be thrilled! this is some top quality stuff! i don't mean to hijack the thread here but i wanted to take a moment and let those of you that haven't had a Hempel plane yet just how great the quality is! it is second only to bill's service. i never have a pm or email take more than just a few minutes to get answered and he is always ready to help!

i guarantee that this cubby is not my last Bill Hempel Designs airplane!

Compared to my 50% Edge, it is built right with a lot of improvement over the Edge, the plane is stronger and relatively lighter.

Thank god I am not 6+ feet tall, true it's too big to put on the bench, I am working on it where it sits not much else I can do, yes I am bending a little but not too bad and I appreciate your concern about my safety, thank God good people like you still exist but I am not giving you the plane.

Matt
Same for the Extra, it is extremely nice, I was honestly surprised when I saw the quality, Bill's ARF's have improved quite a bit and the plane is well built, however I have One major issue to complain about, The plane could have been a little bigger like 70% maybe..

I give it another 3 years... next year he'll have a 70%, the year after - 86%, the year after that, Snap will be flying an RC plane that's 112%!!!

I've gotta show my wife this thread... Elie, you've got the sickness worse than I do.

Scot, few years back, I didn't think I would be here, nobody knows, you could be right, the only obstacle to a larger model is the weight limit.

bigger? i think if you went any bigger then you'd need a direct line to the factory that makes 8711's. i could hear them saying it now "damn, that stupid snap-a-moron needs 96 8711's for some stupid 112% billy hempel aircraft"

btw, i love it when planes are as big as a cadillac CTS
