Back to the question.....

Yes it will be heavy.

Yes he can save a pound on X choice that he made.

As long as the motor out pulls the weight of the plane Elie will be happy with it.

I think that he said before that it was 99 lbs.....

That is my only curiosity. I'm sure the plane will float like a kite at even 150 pounds or more. But as the size of planes goes up it seems to become harder to power them sufficiently. I just hope the 342 is enough to power it the way I know Snap likes it (tail touch in the pond at the Nall to a vertical pull out with a "SNAPASOURUS BADASS" move on the upline...). The 275 does a decent job of pulling around 60-65 pounds, but it's no rocket, and that's an extra 125cc's for only about 20-25 more pounds over a typical 40%er. The 342 is only 67cc's more than the 275 to potentially have to pull an extra 40+ pounds.
Is there any thrust info out there on the 342?

I thought I read 170 pounds of static thrust on one of the earlier pages for this motor

If all goes well, we will know next week. Hoping the weather holds....it is guaranteed to be a great show regardless of what happens. As far as the weight goes, it is not important. Know one knows exactly what thrust the engine will put out and the plane will weigh what it weighs. There is very little excess in the airframe, so not much to remove unless you want to start shedding wheelpants, spinner, etc. On a near 100 lb plane, removing an ounce here or there becomes less significant. If the engine has what it takes to pull the plane out of a hover, it can be assured that Elie will put on one Hell of a show with it. Due to size, transportation, and cost of this plane, it is almost guaranteed it will never be a mass produced plane no matter how well it flies. At the end of the day, it is impressive and assuming it performs, will be the hit of any fly in

I wanted to take some pics today since the plane is completed minus the prop and spinner and especially that it's sitting next to the 50% Edge for size comparison but I couldn't get the camera to work, need to get a new One I guess, sorry.
