anyone want to follow along with me with this plane? well i order the plane on tue the ups guy was in my driveway on today (friday) it came in 2 boxs and i was a little worry there was some shipping damage to the box but the plane was ok. it came double box and the out side box was that really strong honeycomb style of cardborad. once opened every thing was taped or glued to the box so nothing move around inside. this thing looks down right badass, covering is very good and tight no air bubbles or wrinkles the fit beteen the canpoy and the fuse is outstanding even the hardware is great most of the time i dont even bother opening up the hardware kit in arf's becuse there nothing good in there anyway. the fuel system was already done zip tied fuel filter and fuel dot all installed ready to go, firewall for da/3w just got to be expoyed in. canster tunnel is there. this plane has been well thought out and i all ready cant wait to get this in the air here are some pic's to look at

Subscribed. Looks good so far. Glad to see a build thread on a magic hand, as I was curious about the quality. Prices are pretty good. Almost pulled the trigger on one of these but money got short so I bought an RC League Yak 54 for $270. Couldn't pass it up. But for what I've paid to upgrade hardware and time in the build to do stuff right, I would have been ahead to spend a little more on something like yours. Keep it up, I'll be watchin'.

flynbye, yes I also got my TBM 87" yak friday.the box is practicly bomb proof.nothing harmed once opened. so your fuel tank was installed and ready to go eh mine was in the parts kit. did like the id on the bags which made it a little easier to get to what you need, BUT wait the pdf for the 87" shows nothing about the fiberglass cloth to wrap the firewall box, but is listed on the pdf for the 103" yak. also the ldg diagram for the 87" is incorrect the cover that goes over the mount for the ldg gear once installed shows 3 screws but when you look at the frame for the cover there is only 2 screw mounts for the cover, verified by pdf for the 103", now the bag ID'd as ldg gear had 4 black allen screws and 4 flat washers and nuts and 6 phillips head sheet screws 2 each for the wheel pants and believe the remaining 2 for the cover attachment, unable to verify by 103" pdf as it shows 2 blk allen bolts which were not in bag ID'd ldg gear. now the parts list also says 10 pieces of wood to stiffened the fiewall but my kit has 14 pieces . 8 pieces for the inside of the engine mount box 2 for the outside according to 103" pdf and looks like the last 4 go to box the firewall from the outside as well. am I correct on these assumptions ??

ya i notice the manual was wrong on the landing gear setup. mine don't come with a manual just a parts list. as i was builing the gear setup there was only blind nuts for 3 bolts so that what i put in then those two tiny one hold the gear cover and that just srews to the gear. i seen the fiberglass coth and the tri stock was the smaller pices already beveled for the inside of the box? the extra pices of wood go on the out of the box on the firewall. i wasnt planning on use the the glass just pinning the fire wall down. once i get the engine installed i will see if it needs it

Yeah the glass cloth might be a bit over the top. ca the box good and expoxy the wood pieces in place should do it just fine. still thinking of going with some smoke but the gas tank area would be tight at best not to mention the forward wing attachment wing bolt(nylon) might have to be swapped out for a stud mounted in the wing and use a nylon butterfly nut on the inside of the tank area but still even would be tight.
i'm going with a pitts muff instead of canisters to preserve the underside of the cowl and belly area.hate to chop up a perfectly good cowl. has anyone ever used a tiny guage spiral cut bit to slot the louvers for ventilation? think that would be so clean looking. |

Flynbye, hey thats a nice diagrahm for the wiring. this subject needs to be discussed and possibly stickied by the old timers & the gifted electrical wizes that do this on a daily basis. this is probably the least discussed issue & trying to get info is somewhat like pulling wisdom teeth. on other forums if such a question is asked your I.D.'d as a newb , and yes are snubbed by some of the very people who know this stuff inside & out. then at the same time you read the same individuals talking about new members at their clubs becoming interested in getting in the hobby are down. you can't get educated if no one comes off the info , jesus this is not the secret to the atomic bomb! would it kill the "experts" to sit down and make some various wiring schematics for the popular bird like yaks , sukoi's, extras so that the "un gifted " knew how to proceed. maybe I'm just over looking the obvious but the info must be well hidden cause I still haven't found it.
