Default Re: Dietrich Slick suggested wing check.

I posted this on the other thread, but I figured I'd put it here as well.
The end result makes a very tight wing to fuse bond. this wing is not going anywhere.

Not sure if it's needed.. but for a 3oz (or less ) weight penalty I'll take the chance.

I decided to add a hard point to each wing and actually make the wing have 3 wing bolts.
(1/4" nylon bolt)

The hard point is 1" deep and has a 1/4' hole tapped for a 1/4" wing bolt.
It's exactly 3" from the anti rotational pin (you could go 2.5")

I added a 2" strip of 1/8" ply inside the fuse from the hatch lip to the lower stringer to support the new wing bolt and stop it from crushing the fuse.

To get it to all line up, I cut a wing bolt, inserted it into my new hard point and sharpened the end. As I pushed the wing in, it made a pilot hole in the fuse. When the glue dries on the 1/8" ply I'll simply drill through the pilot hole and BAM.. wing has 3 bolts and is supported all over the place.

I don't think I'll have any issues. Needed or not, it's not a bad thing!
