Default Backwards Crash

Its sucks when you crash while at the sticks for what ever reason, But when you crash and havent even started your motor, that also sucks!!!!! Today at the feild I had a model on a table and was going to to adjust some linkage, I turned to look at a full scale flying over, then I heard CRASH! SON OF A -----! My plane rolled of the table backwards and broke the rudder. I am glad I brought a few planes today. Sorry no pictures

Shane

A rudder should be a pretty easy fix... We all have those moments when you go "Doh, what the heck was I thinking"
I wish you well on your repairs.

Think of it as the "airplane gods" way of saying this was not the day to fly this plane. You can fix this rudder and fly it again another day. Sometimes you have to see these things as signs and trust there is a reason for them. The hard part is seeing them for what they are at the time.

I know how that goes. Once I had 2 planes with me and set the one on the ground behind my van to get the other one out and go fly. Well I crashed the one and forgot the other was still behind my van and went to back out to go retrieve the one I crashed and crunch, ran over the one I had sitting on the ground. 2 for one special.

dumb mistakes tend to breed even dumber ones... in my first year back in the hobby, we used to fly where they now have build a Wal-Mart. I dumb-thumbed a plane one Saturday, then wanted to fly the next day, so I went to the hobby shop, bought a Funtana 50, and stayed up until about 3 in the morning building it. I went to the field the next day with way too little sleep or planning, fired the engine up and took off... only to realize I never range checked the plane. I watched lift off, then roll out of control, luckily right into the dirt and out of harm's way.

2 days, 2 planes, 1 tough lesson learned.

I've long debated stuffing my airplanes with tootsie rolls and butter nips so I could call them pinatas when they meet the ground unexpectedly. . .

my old 2.4m 3W extra, the 3W 75 suddently lost powerin torque roll, the tail crashed on the ground and the plane crashed onto the gear -rudder and one elevator half broken but not more...

with my substandard skill, I would be proud to stick one while torque rolling 3' off the deck!

I am not worried about the rudder it will be an easy fix, & I will give it another go next weekend!

There has been a few funny and not so funny moments at my field. My mentor of this hobby is an outstanding shank flyer, one day he dumba$$ed and got disoreinted and landed his chopper in the tip top of a 70 foot tall pine, I mean beautiful landing, after a few moments I said try to fly off the tree, well one of the skid was hung on a small branch and when threw the throttle to it guess what happened! the heli done a few funky chicken manuvers and fell down about 15 feet and rested on a limb. $50 later the professional tree climber was shimying up the tree to get the remains. not funny for him but very funny for us standing around.

You can also stuff a trash bag in the tail section so you have it handy at the crash site.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It may sound stupid but it does help ease the pain a little. LOL.
