EI = less weight and ease of starting and timing.

Al, thanks for this great thread. I did a lot of research before committing to a gas project and this thread answered a LOT of my initial questions about how to properly set up a gasser. For my first gas project I have followed almost all your suggestions. I am just starting my build with a Pilot-RC 30% Yak, DLE-55, canister exhaust, Electro Dynamics opto switch regulated lipo ignition source, regulated A123 radio power, MPI switches, HD-9150MG servos all around and a manual choke. It's great to have folks who will take the time to share their wisdom and experience.

I have a Wild Hare 50cc Sukhoi with the big open round cowling. (my first gaser other than a H-9 Cessna 183 with a g26)
Enough cooling ? Using the canister muffler in the tunnel provided. |

Ok Newbie here...coming from .60 size electrics.
I have a DL-50, getting ready to mount it on my EF Extra. -Do I need any gasket when I mount the muffler? -Does anybody have a cad of jpeg of the mounting hole pattern -Any help with prop drilling, patterns, methods etc. Edit: I see a gasket on the DL site (part 19), I will contact them. thanks! Whew this gas stuff is new to me and the manuals for the engine assume you know what you are doing! David-wish I was at Nall, but I bought a plane instead. |

2) http://www.dlenginesaustralia.com/do...lltemplate.pdf 3) Get a prop drilling jig from Valleyview RC or other DL vendor. You could also use the prop washer to mark holes on the prop then drill with drill press only!!! Make sure the prop and washer are slid onto the prop shaft when marking so they are lined up. I think I used a 13/64th" drill bit. I just did this last night and used the drill jig. They are about $25. PS: Are you using the stock stand off's? The make the engine a little too forward IMO. I used 2.5" ones on my Extra. Just finished installing my DLE-55 last night.

You can get the Permatex from any NAPA autoparts store. I would also recomend you use the supplied gasket for the muffler with some high temp sealant on both sides.
