It has plenty of power on this plane. The point was that it does not compare to a DA50. The risk/reward factor is very much in your favor for this engine. Yes service "could" be an issue, however, I have had no reason to be concerned about service at this point. When shopping for an engine for this plane, I looked 26 - 40 cc gas and they were 2x the price. Glow was similar. I consider the minimal investment a calculated/educated gamble that has worked out very well. I probably would not put this engine in a 30% plane even though it would fly it just fine. |

Another option if your not looking to spend a lot of money is to buy used, or possibly look at some of the 26cc options out there. Throw it on a Extreme Flight or a Qui Qui, or one of the many other airframes out there and have fun.

What bout the wildhare 50cc 260's do they fly pretty well, What would be a good engine match for it on a budget. That will still fly it well. I am going to call wild hare and get a shipping quote on them and talk to them a little. What are some other descent airframes in the 400.00 to 500.00 range???

Mike, I'd be more than happy to stop by and bring the 87" SHP or the 89" Slick. I'm going to leave the current Slick over in California when I go back at the end of March (we're flying back, so no plane ). I might pick up another Slick, or I might save my money toward a bigger 3DHS plane (think 123" ).Between the two, the 87" SHP is slightly more nimble, but the 89" Slick does a very convincing 40% impersonation. I think it flies better than my 20 lb 35% Dalton 260. |

The 50cc Yak is the best deal out there. Price includes shipping and hardware. Plane flys IMAC and 3D excellent. Very high quality build and hardware. CF tubes are standard as well. Oh yea forgot. I believe the Cermark version is Chinacote. Scotts is Ultracote. Last edited by landon; 02-19-2009 at 08:20 AM. |

I think that I will order on of the wildhare combos this week. Which ariframe would you guys choose for 3d the edge or the extra 260. I like the look of the 260 better, but how does it compare to the edge flying. I Have some 7.4v lipo batteries and regulators, will these work , or what do you guys reccommend for the electronics setup.

Let me try to answer a few of your questions.
The difference from one plane to another, at least in the Wild Hare product line, is going to be subtle. An Edge has a slight advantage in 3D and slow flight. An Extra is a bit more stable than an Edge. The Sukhoi is similar to an Extra but has more drag so it will slwo down more quickly. Some people like this, some not so much. But here's the thing. These differences are easily erased by adjustments to the radio. All of the planes have control surfaces that are far larger than is necessary for just flying around in circles. By adjusting throws and expo you can make any plane do what you want. For example an Extra needs a little more rudder to do what an Edge will do. So what, use more rudder and it flies the same. Etc. etc. They can all do what you want, they just need to be trimmed a little differently. So get the one whose looks you like, and which fits your lifestyle. The flying thing can be adjusted, but for example you can't adjust the length to fit in your car. With the dynamics of this hobby as they are and the economy in the shape that it is, I strongly recommend that anyone should look to a vendor that has been in business for a while, who has a broad product line (indicitave that they plan to be here a while longer) and whose management/ownership has been consistent and is involved on a full time basis. There are a lot of companies that have come and gone, some several times. They left people without a source of parts and/or support. And when you call to ask questions, do you get somebody who's a builder and pilot or do you get a clerk who wouldn't know if you are ordering something that won't work? Ask questions, demand answers that make sense. It's your money. TF |
