Just ordered the receiver and a smoke system along with some good hardware... Slowly but surely I'll get all the pieces together and then I'll start the build. I may switch my engine choice to the new DLE 111cc if good reports come in about the performance on it. But I still like the 2yr warranty on the Area 102cc along with the crash warranty...Hrrmmm...decisions, decisions...

OK, digital postage scale came in today and I got everything weighed up...Kinda on the porky side at 20.575 lbs.

Here's the breakdown:

Fuse
6lbs 4oz

Right Wing and ail
3lbs 3.8oz

Left Wing and ail
3lbs 1.8oz

Right Stab and elevator
0lbs 12.8oz

Left Stab and elevator
0lbs 11.4oz

Rudder
0lbs 8.8oz

Cowl
1lb 7.4oz

Wheel pants
0lbs 3.8oz

Landing gear legs
1lb 0.2oz

Lexan canopy
0lbs 9.8oz

Control rods and horns
0lbs 4.6oz

Hardware package
1lb 1.4oz

Wing and stab tubes total
1lb 3.4oz

All items were weighed in the original bags and foam packing. So figure 2-3lbs for packaging and I get 17.5-18.5lbs minus engine or motor (if running electric) and radio gear, etc...

If I can find carbon fiber tubes and landing gear, I may be able to get it somewhere into the 26-27lb range with smoke system installed...

just picked up my plane
well just went and picked mine up and all i can say is i think UPS lost money on shipping this box. This is a huge box.

i opened up the box and all is perfect. have a couple dents on top of the turtle deck but i should be able to get them out. I feel that i will buy genuine robart hinges as the ones supplied are a little so so in my opinion. i took everything out of the bags and weighed it and the total is 18lbs this is giving a little here and there. so with that weight and a dl100 plus all the gear it should take me to 28lbs give or take a 1/2 lbs
but i also have a DA85 that could lighten things up it is presently in a hanger 9 sukhoi su26. i am curoius to see the difference in the flyability of these 2 airplanes but this one will not be built until one of my other 35%er's sells or goes in. A buddy of mine has just got into electrics and he says that i should do this one in electric. all i can say is time will tell.

looking forward to some people getting this plane in the air.

Yes it definitely is a HUGE box...LOL

I thought the same on the hinges plus I think I'll add a few in also, and I already had the Robarts..

So I guess I was right on the bags and such weighing about 2-3 pounds.

Well my first choice in servos (TBM PowerHD 9150MG's) won't work as I recently found out that Futaba FASST has a problem with them on boot up. I read that they will spin 60° before they get a signal, then come back to center, when you first turn the power on and I confirmed this by the two that I have waiting to go into an old 72Mhz setup on my old Extra that I'm rebuilding... I plugged them into the new FASST receiver and turned on the transmitter, then plugged the batt. in and sometimes they move alot and sometimes only a little but the other digitals I had plugged in didn't even flinch so I'll have to look to some slower, slightly weaker ones. I'll also need to locate a 100cc motor. Until then she stays in the box...

interesting about the 9150's as i have a new pair sitting in a drawer. I am running Spektrum DX7 and using AR9100 recievers so i will have to plug them in and see what they do. i was thinking about buying a couple more as well to out fit this plane.

i think i will hold off until i try them

like i said earlier this plane is staying in the box until something happens with the other 3 that i am flying.

Hanger 9 Sukhoi SU26MM with DA85 jtec muffler
AirWild Giles G300 with DL100 stock mufflers
WildHare Extra330 with ZDZ100 &mac pipes.

UPDATE: Got a deal I couldn't pass up on a NIB DL 100cc so this will be the powerplant in the nose. Still need servos and PE and I'll start the build...

UPDATE: It may be a little longer than I expected to get the plane going...I screwed up my back big time and may need surgery this time to fix it. I've been laid up since Sat. afternoon and have left the bed little since because I can hardly stand to walk more than a few paces...Only thing keeping me from going crazy is having the laptop here in the bedroom on an ottoman and laying over the side to type/surf...hurts like hell...
