Probably the wind but it sure seemed like it...I'll hopefully know more this weekend if the weather holds and I can get to the field early...the wind here on the coast starts to pick up by 9am...

The gear held up fine...

Here's some pics that my wife took later that day...maybe I need to give her the video camera for next time...LOL!!!

Second to last pic reminds me, I have to add some lite-ply reinforcements to the fuse for the canopy mounting bolts. The rear bolt on that side tryed to pull out...

Zed have you taken any new video lately. How is the planes performance now that you have had a chance to fly it under better conditions then it was on the maiden fly . I remember you saying it was quite windy that day. Is your landing gear reinforcing holding up. Even with only having 3 days off in the last 66 days one being labor day and the weekend before last for mine and Laurie's anniversary. And working between 10 and 14Hr a day I managed to get my Funtana S40 together only to crash it on its second night out and its fourth tank of fuel. I think I need a little more time on the sticks be four I start doing low altitude rolls with the Sundowner 50 I bought and haven't flown yet. I'm hoping to let my head foreman run the job this weekend so I can go home, I haven't seen my house in two and a half months. There is a action/swap meet at the EAA museum in Oshkosh this Sunday that I hope to go to. We'll type at ya later.

Hey Terry,

Nah no new vid, still working out the kinks...The landing gear plate seems to be holding but the gear itself is another story. It is flexing outward and last weekend at our club fly-in, on takeoff rotation of the second flight I caught the prop and took some of the blade off on one side and just came back around and landed it. Also I was having problems with the tailwheel bracket bending and changed it out to carbon fiber and now I keep ripping it out. I am going to put some wires between the main gear to try to help with the flexing problem and I'm going to have to cut into the tail to install some blind nuts to re-attach the tail wheel.

Renting a trailer with my brother to go to a fly-in out of town this weekend (hopefully we don't get rained out) and hopefully will have a good time and get in more than 2 flights...

Zed

Zed have you figured out the solution to the flutter in the elevator's. How is the wire working on the landing gear.

Yep no more flutter, had a servo arm that somehow bent and semi-stripped and also I changed the control horn out to give more torque to the elevators by moving the control rod farther away from the elevators...

The wires are working great but the Dubro 3/16" axles I'm not liking too much right now. One fell off with the wheel in flight...

Are these the axles that came with the kit. I dug the Manuel out of the box tonight and was surprised at how heavy the landing gear was. Its amazing that they would have so much flex. Did yours come with the holes in it or did you drill them to reduce some weight.

No I switched to Dubro 3/16" axles...

The holes you speak of I'm assuming you are looking at the pics and no those aren't holes they are bolts. I used part of an old carbon fiber landing gear and reinforced the stock gear by making some straight sections and bolting them to both sides. That's the holes (bolts) you see...

Zed did you bolt them on after you had the problem with the landing gear flexing to much or before.
