Default WRAM Show Wrap-up!

Well folks, the time has once again come and gone for the annual W.R.A.M. (Westchester Radio AeroModelers) trade show in White Plains, New York. 2009 signified the 41st year for this event, and once again, the W.R.A.M. club worked their tails off to ensure a well run, and well organized event once again this year. Hats off to the club for their continued effort to grow our hobby!

The economy may be in the crapper, but that didn't stop modelers from throughout the Northeast from making the trip to White Plains to attend the show. In talking with many of the retailers at the show, modelers were doing their fair share of stimulating the economy by having their wallets at the ready, and taking advantage of the deals that were to be had!

The demo area was once again in full affect with indoor flying demos by John Glezellis as well as a young man (who's name I unfortunately didnt get) that had MAD skills with a micro heli! The spectators got a good show and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves!

The AMA once again held a District II meeting while the rest of the meeting rooms were bustling with different seminars and organizational meetings for special interest groups like IMAC, IMAA, and the likes. The Static display was held on the lower level for the first time since I can remember, and there were many excellent models being displayed. Off the top of my head, there were a couple P51s that were absolutely stunning.

Finally, the comraderie at the event was great. As we all start to get anxious for spring and get ready to jump back into action as soon as the weather permits, the WRAM show allows you to reconnect with your friends and buddies from throughout the Northeast that you may have not seen over the long winter. I know for myself, this is one of the best aspects of a trade show like this! Not only that, but as the WRAM show comes around every year, its a reminder to us all that Spring is not far off, and that winter can't last forever!

Thanks again to the WRAM team for putting on a great event for all that attended! See you in 2010!

3rd pic is the Radiowave 3.2m Extra 300 for 150/170 class engines, but is also available in a 2.6m version for 100cc/85cc engines. And the 4th pic is a 2.3m Extra 300 by Radiowave for 85cc engines. The one in the picture is a hair under 21 pounds with an 85... can you say rocket power?!?!?!

Nice write up John. Is it true that Lee Morey also put on a flying demonstration? That must have been off the hook.

Anyone know the status of the fella that might have had a heart attack on Saturday morning?
It didn't look to good when I saw him.

I asked Brian Gilmore, and I believe (don't quote me) that he said the street price for the 200 was $2799.
