I don't know how other clubs do it, but it is not cheap to have a nice flying field. We rent the land, we have expenses like the porta potty and gas and upkeep for the club's lawnmowers. Our club just relocated to a new field so we had some pretty large expenses. We purchased a storage container, a very nice pavilion, grass seed, etc. Orchard farm's dues are no more than any of the other clubs in the St Charles area. It would be nice to have cheap dues, I don't see it happening if you want a top notch flying field. I also think it is funny that guys don't have a problem spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on an airplane, but complain about spending a little to have a membership to a nice flying field.
Chris, I think the sign should be changed too. Maybe we could add "spectators welcome when club members are present" or we just remove the "members only" on the sign. |

Yes yes, but what about the pilot station? I think they will work out great. That is why the picture was taken, to show the stations.

I would GLADLY pay the extra $25 a year for this field over a field that is less than half this size within 15 miles of there. There are ways to get membership dues down though, its just if people are willing...

Oh I agree that you guys have a great new field and that you have to pay for everything. I just really don't care to spend $100 for a dues membership at a field that is so far away that I would realistically probably only fly at maybe 6 to 8 times a year. It will defiantly cost us more in gas to get there only after a couple of trips. Just figured you guys might discuss that at your next meeting if guys that were a couple of hours away that would not mind joining the club could get a reduced rate?
Thanks, Bryan

Yes running water, but nowhere for it to go.....what's that stuff bubbling up through the ground??:7:... sorry man that was a very bad time for that to happen. It's gotta be more than 15 miles to River city. probally join there as well since that "other" club will not have me.
