So, time to build and cost aside, which would be better for 3D and Precision, the H9 Extra 260 or a Dalton 35% Extra 260?

that's a no brainer! the dalton is about as true of a 260 airframe as you can get. there is a HUGE difference between pro-built and ARF airframes. now, don't get me wrong, the arf's have come along way and the H9 260 is a nice plane.... BUT, when being compared to a dalton, carden or the like, it just doesn't add up! not to mention that you will have a unique plane and not a cookie cutter!
just my $.02

there is a reason that the price of the "kit" dalton is almost as much as the "arf" H9! you'll notice a difference... you'll especially notice a longevity difference.

Yeah after flying nearly every 260 I have to hand it to the Daltons. They fly the BEST IMHO. Very responsive.

I would tell you this....If you like to build, get the Dalton. If you are sort of "so-so" on the building idea and want to get in the air pretty quickly get the H-9 260. The H-9 260 flies exceptional for only having to put in about 8 hours of work time to get it ready to fly, while the Dalton as you know will much longer to get in the air and will in the end cost you more than an ARF. Both will fly very competitive at any level of competition, it just all comes down to how much time and money you are willing to spend to get airbourne.

neil is certainly correct. the H9 is a GREAT flying arf... i do, however, believe that the fruits of your labors if you choose to build a dalton will be ones that are unsurpassed by any arf!

If your a great builder and it doesn't bother you that your time is worth about $.05 an hour I would go with the Dalton.

Also, what is your timeframe? If you are currently flying something your content with now and this one will be a replacement, build the Dalton. There is nothing more satisfying than flying a plane you built yourself anyway. Just my .02

Sounds like the Dalton is the way to go and time doesn't really matter. Thanks guys!
Now I gotta decide to do standard mufflers, MTW RE2's, or MTW cans on a DA 100L... |
