I am not sure if 3DXHobbies will be offering the 50cc version. I will need to check with paul to see if he will be offering that plane. I am sure that he would be able to supply the laser cut parts and I can supply the foam parts. We could give you a list of the peices needed to finish the plane. I have the mold to produce the cowl. The canopy of the great planes 25% yak 54 will fit my plane. Just let me know if you would like a quote for a 50cc plane.

If you go over to that other site there is a build thread on the 50cc plane. I don't want to put up their name and make the giants sad. Just search Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54.
There is a build thread for the plane and all the specs. Brent |

I have talked to Paul at 3dxhobbies about the 50cc yak. He is interested in marketing the 50cc yak as well. He will be working on a price for the plane. We are looking at several different options on how to market the 50cc kit. It will all depend on what the cost to produce the kit. If anyone is interested in a 50cc plane just let me know. We would like to get an idea on how many we should look at producing.

Brent I am very interested. I am going to do another 50cc yak this season...and unlike a lot of folks I REALLY do not want another ARF. I started out in the hobby building all of my models and at this point I KNOW I can build a straighter/lighter/stronger airframe from a kit/scratch. While I think its wonderful that there are so many bigger arfs out there...its changed the hobby tremendously, for the better. The lack of kits...especially in the 50cc range is sad for a guy like me. Even if you guys don't go with a full production of these kits, I would be interested in it. |

I sent side views of my new 150cc yak 54 to the IMAC board to make sure that they were legal and just got word back that I am within the 10% rule. Here is how they calculated the max fuse length based on wingspan.
125" Wingspan Model Yak-54 125 / 321 = 38.94% {model will be 38.94%} The fuse length of the full scale Yak-54 is 272" (see 2nd attachment above) 272 x .3894 = 105.92 A scale model with 125" wingspan will have a scale fuse length of 105.92" 105.92 x 1.10 = 116.51 The max fuse lenght of a Yak-54 with 125" wingspan will be 116.51". ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************ 126" Wingspan Model Yak-54 126 / 321 = 39.25% {model will be 39.25%} The fuse length of the full scale Yak-54 is 272" (see 2nd attachment above) 272 x .3925 = 106.76 A scale model with 126" wingspan will have a scale fuse length of 106.76" 106.76 x 1.10 = 117.44 The max fuse lenght of a Yak-54 with 126" wingspan will be 117.44". The fuse length was calculated from spinner tip to the rudder. Here is the image I supplied them showing my side view and a scaled full scale drawing top view and a full scale drawing plus 10%. Because there has been so much discousion on the topic I didn't want to have any issues with my new design. This new kit will be going into production this year and we have a pilot who will be competing with the plane this summer. Now that I have the ok from IMAC I can get the prototype cut and get started building. |

Are you using 3/32" sheeting on the wings and stabs on the 100cc version? Is there an option for 1/16" if so? Thanks.

I beleive that the kits will be using 1/16" standard weight balsa. I used 3/32 contest grade on the prototype. This gave me a little more room for sanding. I think you can specify the type of balsa for the kit.
