Default landing your own plane

i was wondering, does it state that a pilot has to land their own plane after a sequence?
probably thinkin what the hell huh. well the reason i ask is... i taught my wife to fly last summer and she does not have here wings yet, she can fly around alright and demonstrate control....except for that landing part.
she is showing interest in competing in basic and it would be good a event we could do together without alienating her. the contests are quite a ways away so hopefully by then she will have that mastered by then.
then the the other side of the fence is would this be considered bad etiquette?
what if she wins her class, not landing her own plane.
whadya think?

I think you have to have your wings to be allowed to enter a contest anyway, so practics landings!

Bad etiquette???? This isn't golf! I think it is great that she wants to fly Basic and you should do whatever you can to help her. If she feels more comfortable with you landing, then so be it. There is nothing saying you have to land your own plane.

Good luck!

Alot of people borrow airplanes after an incident and the owner lands the airplane. Also with new contestants usually the nerves are up so it is not a bad idea to have someone ready to handle the landing if things are shaky...

If she wins Basic without landing, who cares? I've had mine landed for me after flying Sportsman. Have her come on down....she's more than welcome.

No rules about having to take off or land. Let her fly I say as long as she's having fun.

If you try pattern though you have to takeoff and land your own plane as they are scored in the sequence.

For IMAC everyone is correct. Anyone can fly the plane but from the point of calling in the box to out of the box it must be the scored pilot.

Double post (much like a bounced landing)

The only difference was you got it right the first time. Bounced landings are the other way around...

I dont think it's a bad idea either. Even if you're comfortable flying and landing other aircraft it might be challenging bringing in a precision plane. Obviously it depends on the plane and the field but my 330 can be challenging on short fields. It's propped aggressively and even at a low idle comes in hot. That combined with a very clean airframe (no parachute cowl like the yaks) makes things tricky.

Mark!

You should have emailed me buddy

This is no issue. The takeoffs and landings are not scored. In fact I will have a 50cc Yak at every Alberta contest this year, set up trimmed properly and open for ANYONE to fly. I hope EVERYONE in Basic flys it and anyone else who feel inclined. It is being setup just for this purpose... its a big Yak 89" wingspan, DA50 on tuned pipe, good servos etc. A full-on intro level IMAC machine. The plane is a protoype from a new manufacturer and should be very nice, pocket hinges, light weight, stretched length... made for IMAC

We will buddy box it and someone else can take off and land for anyone who is too nervous to. It will be AWESOME if your wife somes out to fly! You know Doug's wife flies also and maybe we could get her flying again if we had another female on the flight line.

Chris.

Oh yea - and if it gets you to more contests that would be awesome too! Pat is flying Advanced this year, Doug from Hiflight will fly Intermediate in some contests. Come kick my a$$ in Intermediate so I can get some regional points!
