Default 10 pounds + - of "desk weight" pilot figure.

I'm thinking of adding a new product concept to our web site and I'm curious if there is any interest from you guys.
Frankly I'm so impressed with the 40% Leather Brain Bag bust carving the art department has produced, I'm seriously thinking of making available BRONZE, COPPER, BRASS and Silver versions. Yes, + - 10 pounds of "desk weight" pilot figure. 7.75" high x 7.75" high.
Wondering if I'm mostly alone or if there is general mild interest in the idea?
Maybe seeing one or two different ones actually made up might help get an honest opinion?

The 40% figure is only a couple week/months away, so I will be able to make the prototype desk weight complete with felt bottom soon.
(Note the goggle lens detail is not completed as shown in this picture.)

What are your thoughts? Suggestions?

Plaster- Lets do some math cause at $25 a month interest free - its gonna look like you are paying off a stimulus bill!

10 # = 160 ozs @ $950 an ounce -= 152K @ $25 a month = 506 years.
Nah!

zzw26n & ricky, I haven't physically seen or purchased the metallic powder yet, but I'm pretty sure the Bronze would provide the antique look you are describing. I work with a guy who use to do all kinds of specialty projects for different churches up north. He tells me he use to add bronze dust to the casting resin - and you could actually polish the finished piece as if it was solid. What he use to make was different size Catholic Pope Busts' for churches - along with the thick resin stained glass panels and etc. He says the copper would patina just like solid copper! Well it is the actual metal pulverized - so I'd bet the bronze could go to US10B oil rubbed bronze real easy too.

I just think this Classic Pilot would make a good desk model. Maybe set on a complimentary colored wood species to the metal finish ordered. Wood base - maybe not needed at all? What do you guys think? Optional add on base perhaps??

I need to get FX3D, and two brew kettle & bottling commitments behind me and then get serious about the realities of this idea. If not for at least one for my own desk and a couple of you guys at the least!

Hard to begin to guess price cause I have no idea how much powder to resin ratio is needed. Promise I'll get back to this thread in about a week with some idea of $$.

Thanks too guys for the compliments. Kenn is quite a Master Artist!

I'm not much for art of any sort, but that would look pretty cool on the fireplace mantel (in place of dismantled engines and parts lol).

I can't stand it - either!

I'll get info on how much powder to resin and get an idea of how much $$ next week.

Okay- I looked at the different metal finishes in actual molded parts today.
I can tell you the Bronze and Copper metals are really where it's at.

I believe these could be made (w/o a base) for around $100.00!!
Molding a base in same finish is very doable too.
If you like the patina copper look- the process can be sped up by treating wth bleach. When it has the degree of patina you want, you neutralize and then spray with two coats of clear to seal it.

This idea really has me excited.
Well, I sure WANT ONE!!

Now the truly hard part.
Getting that model finished and making the production mold.
