Just looking for a little advice on this motor to put into AW 35cc Extra. It will be a beginner level IMAC style flyer.
Thanks.

Check the thread on the plane. Performance should be OK, but expect to add weight to the nose to get the right CG. From what I have found, with an engine in the 3.75-4lb range (with ignition and muffler) you shouldn't need much, if any nose weight.

Ok. Lets see what you think about the RCGF 45cc in the 35cc AW Extra. That is the motor used for one of the reviews that I saw, but that doesn't always mean anything. What do you guys think?
Thanks

I know it would be overkill on the power but wouldn't the dle55 come in that weight range? I didn't look it up recently but was thinking it was just over 3lbs...

I have assembled that engine and I was suprised, one flip and it started immediately, it ran for an half hour and then .......game over, ignition failure.
I've bought this engine directly from China, i think the word "warranty" is just a word over there I think there are more reliable engines on the market for your goal. |

When you get below 50cc I like brands that have been around Zenoah g-45. I am hearing mixed thoughts on some of these other brands. Zenoah is DA like just my thoughts. run forever no problems around 4 lbs probably won't need nose weight, and you definatly won't need to keep cash for a replacement.

I have close to 14 gallons through my CRRC40 and have not had problem one with it. It is mounted on a EF Yak 54, their 74 inch version. Will be flying it in IMAC this season in the Basic class. If you buy the kit there is no warranty no matter who you buy it from. It is not a powerhouse type engine but I have unlimited vertical with a 20-7 prop on it. I choose the engine because it was very lite and didn't really expect it to perform as good as it does. Just my experience with it. By the way I bought it from Valleyview RC and it was put together by Jody and given a run before it was sent to me. Could be a reason for it's reliable performance........................
