Default 2009 FX3D - Day one is in the Books.

Article by FG field reporter: Matt Mikesh

Day one is in the books guys and what a day it was!
The flying and the friendship was second to none and whoever placed the "weather order" sure got it right! Just as we all expected, the FFAA and the Gateway R/C'ers have outdone themselves once again! The hospitality and the attitude of the organizers, from the CD all the way down to the grill chef, needs to be commended and appreciated. This can be considered a home away from home for all involved even if it is your first time to the field!

Thanks to the many generous vendors that have graced our "raffle tables" with prizes, the raffle tickets were flying off the reel. This is what we were here for in the first place.... No, not for the prizes!!! For the cause. The raffle money is going to the Children of Fallen Soldiers Fund just like the pilot's fees!!!!!! Let me tell ya guys, generosity is running wild here in northern Florida! I have to believe that started with the generosity of the Gateway R/C organization! The host club here is doing this without regard to profits for themselves.... This money is going to a bigger and better cause that we are all celebrating this weekend!

Now, on to the flyin'!!!!!! Today right after lunch will be the 2nd annual "All Up Huck"!!!!!!! As many of the guys in hover position with their giant birds as the skies will allow. The minimum number of participants will be 20! If we don't have 20.... We don't do it!!!!!

There are at TON of great pilots here! Lots of well know IMAC and Freestyle names and even more names that will become famous in the near future! Brian Luckett, Kevin Garland, Ivan Gutierez (sp?), Chris Hinson, Team Flatout, Dave "the plane bender" Sullivan... The list goes on and on! One thing that I can assure you is that each of the above mentioned pilots have been in awe at least once already this weekend by some of the real youngsters flying! Jonathon aka Lil Stinker and Loius aka Snoopy are about as much fun to watch as anything I've seen in this hobby. Justin Owen seems as if he can get his 42% 260 to do things that gravity shouldn't allow! To me, this up and coming generation of R/C'ers is already taking this great hobby to a level that many of us will never be able to comprehend!!!!! Keep it up guys!

A big thanks to Mr. Robert Vess for getting all of his pics uploaded! The air card that i have is just too powerless to download any pics out here! I'll get with another couple guys with their laptops and try until we get our hundreds of pics up and running! Keep checkin' in guys... We'll do our best to keep you updated and let you know exactly what you are missin'!
