Cool, they did say it was for 50-80cc conversions and for planes weighing from 20-31 lbs. That sounds more like an 80cc conversion to me.

Not sure how a 89" slick can get around 16lbs ? I'm using a BME 58 with a stock muffler and the regular electronics and i think mine is hovering around the 17lb mark. I'm already at a 8oz advantage from not using a DA-50.....so i'm trying to figure out how it's possible to get 16lbs?

I would attribute it more to the difference in scales. Not all of us have calibrated postal scales .

That's what i was kind of thinking too. I actually got my scale from my little brother , who works for ODOT here in oregon. It's been calibrated to be pretty precise by a gram or two. It's only good up to 13lbs though is what sucks. I have to weigh a lot of parts separate on my big GS stuff. But still.....even at 17lbs.....this slick flies like it's a big foamy. On high windy day....i almost wish i had an extra pound or two.

I'm not sure what the finished dry weight will be but I do have Peluze scale good to 33 lbs. I do have a 15 lb airframe missing a menz 23x8, spinner and two a123 2300mA batteries yet. I'll guess it will be a hair over 17 lbs when I scale it again.
With the ES composites pipe I might have to add even more weight to the nose.
I'm trying one of those Wilke filtered ignition modules to eliminate an ignition battery for the first time.

I not sure of anyone flying a stock 16 lb. 89" Slick (gas or electric). I think that 17-18 lb. mark is more resonable on this airframe in less someone tries to lighten the airframe.

If you want a 16 lb. 50CC airplane than the 3DHS 87" SHP would be the ticket.

Guys - We currently have some stock of the Blue/silver 89" Slicks. We're going to run out soon, and then it'll be 45-55 days before more arrive. Also, we're going to be out of town (first real vacation in years) all next week. Thanks.

Approx 45-65 days. Those are being backordered now by people who want to get on this next container. No changes on this next run EXCEPT we have made the firewall compatible with 3W106 and stock DLE mufflers. Price remains the same (still just $949 with all carbon and 4-40 hardware, done in ultracote, silver wing and stab bags, pre-hinged, wings gap-sealed).

I'm going to hang an RE2 tuned pipe on my Slick. Here's my question. Which is better, enclose the entire pipe (extend the tunnel), or knock out the back of the cannister tunnel and leave the pipe exposed. I've seen both, and am on the fence as to which way to go. Of course the latter will be quicker, but will I have "heat" problems and exit airflow issues?

Thanks,
Jon

I'd go for the later. As long as your exit hole is big enough, heat shouldn't be a problem. I'm running the RE3 on my 103" Extra 330SC, and the fuse was just fine after the flights. You'll save some (albeit not much) weight in the right places.

You can always build the tunnel later on if you think that it's an issue.

How are you liking that RE3 Josh? You need to come back out and fly.

Power is simply phenomenal. When are you going to be around? I'm off to Houston for the IMAC this weekend though.
