damn. ive kind of got my eye on that yellow version, never been a fan of the standard star spangled banner jesky paint jobs lol. but it grows on ya i guess.

the yellow version with some added decals could be made really sharp i think.

more vids!

He was comparing it to a can. There is no stock muffler with a DA 50. There are side dump and wrap around pitts neither are stock with any DA.

Cans and pipes both use headers.

Mannyh, if you have any issues acquiring a Slick, just give Ben a call at the shop

1 830 990 6978, or email him at Ben@3dhobbyshop.com He'll take good care of you .

So on to the Maiden. Here's the first two flights on the Slick. Note that they are unedited, so no fancy shmancy editing stuff going on there. I kept the first flight high in the beginning, because this was the first flight for the GR70cc. The motor is solid and hauls the 89" Slick like a foamy.

One thing I first notice was how floaty the 89" Slick feels, even though with the current setup, I was probably around 1 lb heavier than a typical 50cc setup. Knife edge has only a touch of coupling inherent in the full scale design, that my thumb easily mixed out. The Slick tracks so true, and does pattern so well, that I did my first really successful 1 roll circle just on my SECOND flight.

Ol' Bonedoc was passing his Tx around like candy @ AEF. I got one flight on the 89" Slick and it was over. I came home with one.

It took a couple weeks to get the power system & packs. Mine is powered by the Reaper Brushless GR70, Spin 200, Xcite 6s 4800 x 2 for 12s and Xoar 24x10. The big Slick is a dream to fly. Very solid, tracks like a dream yet still tumbles & rotates like a smaller plane.

After a week or so, Josh thought it would be a great idea if I fly an electric IMAC. I questioned the wisdom of this idea since I don't have a clue how to fly IMAC. In addition, I have under 10 flights on the 89" Slick and never attempted IMAC with any plane. Sure Josh this this will greeaaattt. I'll go zig the plane will go zag. What the heck, I'll give it a try.

SEFSD is a great club, great people and an awesome venue. It was tough to sit there and look at Mission Bay, blue sky and palm trees but someone had to do it.

I flew Basic. I made enough passes on the sim to memorize the sequence but I had only made 4 passes with the Slick. I made 4 more passes in the morning before the contest got under way.

Round one was great and the big Slick just carved lines in the sky. The flight seemed long and the batteries told the tale, they took 4425mah back. Round 2 was windy and showed my lack of IMAC experience. I flew the sequence too small trying to save the batteries.
Overall it was a great time, glad I did it. I (the plane did it) finished 2nd .

I had a bunch of help getting the plane & parts together. I've got to thank:

AJ, Josh & Noah
Rob @ ADChobbystore.com
Scott @ reaperbrushless.com

Great job on your first time out Kevin! I wished I would've done a little bit better in Sportsman .

Here's a little shot of the Slick in action.

Hi Guys, it was great meeting Josh, Kevin and the AJ Slicks at the first EMAC contest for 2009. Kevin and his Slick flew awesome, just a mistake short of winning Basic. Josh did very well in Sportsman, I think he would have placed better than he did, if he had not crossed the dead line in the afternoon round. Josh put on a world class Freestyle show with his Slick at the Noon time Break, he was then followed by Jeff Szueber with Jeff's Freestyle. The two put on a great show. At the end of the day, Josh let me fly his Slick, I'm impressed to say the least. It's big and presents very well, the Slick will be my next EMAC plane.

It was great meeting you as well Howard.

Actually, this morning, I stopped by your club, and got a chance to fly my Slick once before I had to head out for the DMV appointment. Awesome field you have, and great bunch of folks there as well. Definitely 3D friendly .

On my GR70 setup, I just use a DA bolt pattern with a longer standoff to get the correct height. On my current setup (NEU 1521), I use the mount from espritmodel.com. I had to cut them down though so that I could get it to fit inside the cowling.

The plane itself is designed for DA50 with a 3" Standoff. No work is really required much to mount the engine as the cowling is already set for it.

Speaking of "big", Kevin and I got to fly with Robert (RCDrums from RCG) today and see his AW 100cc Yak. Here are some pictures comparing the 89" Slick with the 100cc Yak.

I just got the cowl cut outs done, the switches and fuel dot are in. I just have to run the vent line and stick the radio in. Tomorrow afternoon will be another build afternoon.

Tonight is looking too good. I am taking the 3DH katana up to the college for some sunset flying tonight and off to IRKS tomorrow for a few tanks through the 35% Extra.

This Slick is a BIG 50cc'er. I have a bunch of rearranging to do in the trailer.

Pics soon.
