Has anybody else experienced excessive slop/ play in the gear train of 8511 ds servo's. The servo's are about 12 mths old with about 150 flights. Do you simply replace the gear set or buy new servo's.

Question- to what extent do the gears need to be sloppy before they will be replaced? Or, said otherwise, what are the symptoms of a servo that needs to have new gears?
I have sent in numerous 8411 and 8611/8611A servos to Horizon here in the States because I felt they were sloppy- the only ones I have had any gears replaced on were the 8611 servos that had the bad servo case top that resulted in chewed up gears. The rest have always been returned as is. Dave |

I've never had my JR servos develop slop......but then again, I don't try to get 75degree of throw out of them either. Anymore than 40 is just waste, you can 3d with alot less than people think.

I have had the exact same problems with my 8611A's as Jenko, sent them back to horizon complaining of excessive gear backlash and they replaced the gears with no charge.

jenko I have had the same problem on every 8511/8611 that I have used. From brand new 20 flights and they have plenty of slop. I got sick of it in the Giles so I simply took them out and put Hitech 5955TG's in. So far so good. They are cheaper, faster and carry more torque.Once I replace all the 8611's I will never use them again.
