Yeah, I might do the CF strips. I'm going to be using the Hitec 7950TH's on the ailerons so I should have enough torque, but at the same time I want good performance.

Less mass out on the wingtips is less mass to stop rotating after a snap. I just wouldn't clip the wings. That's decreasing wing area and adding to your wing loading. You'll save weight with two servos, eliminating the weight of two more servos and wiring. If you're going to take the time to core wings, you might as well remove weight everywhere. Just don't core the tail feathers. Jeremy cored the snot out of his stabs/ elevators and rudder only to add tailweight back to it to get the balance right.

Yeah, I was just going to core the wings. Basically honeycomb everything from the wing tube out and do a little on the ailerons too. I'm only going to reinforce the ailerons with CF as I don't think the wings would really need it. I might remove the some of the material in the elevators and rudder as in the picture below.

Ben the dalton's are light to begin with. I would leave the wings stock that is what am going to do on mine. I plan on using 2 hitec 7950TH per wing. I added carbon fiber strips on the trailing edge and along the stab tube just for extra strenght. And because I saw MattyMatt do it on one of his build threads.

I need some Rob, but I need it pre-applied to the wings of a ML 300. I figured you might as well build the rest of it while you're at it. Can you get that done in the next week? lol

Buttface and I are going to use the DA-170 and KS 95 cans, with a cross over tube. I may get the the re3's instead. It depends on how I like the re2's for 3D in my 35%

Ok let's put this to bed. if your coring any part of the wing, carbon tow is a must. If your not coring the wings but you only want to use two servos, then use the carbon tow on the ailerons to stiffen up the middle. If your using three servos, no need for any carbon. If you can 3D better than Mark L then you might need some carbon in the wings. But Tony doesn't use carbon on Marks planes. At least he didn't when he was here.
If anyone needs some carbon tow, send me a PM with your address.
Hey Rob, I can knock out a complete set of Mel wings in 5 days. Is that fast enough.LOL Rob

Do you need to sand the ailerons down to add the carbon tow or how do you do that?

I meant the whole thing! lol. I'm sure for the right amount of $$$, you could knock out an entire plane in 5 days. Unfortunately, I don't have enough in the bank for you to prove it. Someday!!!

Sorry i missed that part. Maybe ten days. And yes it would cost extra for a build that quick.
Carbon tow is very thin. No need to sand. Rob

I added the carbon underneth the sheeting on my stabs. It was so thin there is no need to sand the ailerons. I just spread the glue on the cores then laided the carbon strip in place and then placed the sheeting on top and put it under weight. I will say cut the strips to the right lenght before to start applying the glue. Hope this helps am no expert building I just read and get help from the best.

master builders chime in and correct me if am wrong. Sukhoi26 I know I you what your are doing

I talked to one of the guys I flew with in CO once and just lays the CF tow down and then glues it in when he glues on the skins. He put the glue on the skins though. I'm sure it works both ways though.

And to make sure I'm getting this straight, if I do the CF tow I need to add it for the length of the spar and also on the ailerons, right? Do I need to do both top and bottom?
