Agreed, Earle. BTW, for those who don't know, Earle is a former US Unlimited National Aerobatic Champion. He knows his stuff.

As a measuring tool, all three of the "Masters of Disaster" (Leroy, Younkin, Franklin) are dead from airshow accidents. Lower isn't better in the full-scale world. I can count five friends dead from airshow accidents.

Friends of mine who knew Jim weren't surprised he hit the ground... they were surprised that he hit the ground so hard.... they were surprised he messed up to such a large extreme....
We all occasionally touch the rudder in a TR when we didn't really mean to right.... just a little baby tap...

Jim plowed in like he thought he was 150 feet higher then he really was....

Too bad...... I thought Jim was the best!!!

That was awesome, but he is good at what he does. No matter if it is safe or not, I would fly with him. Maybe once!!!

Yes Scott, it is a VERY UNFORGIVING sport/hobby/business...when I quit in 1992 I was up to 21-22 friends/associates. Some I knew very well and others were just acquaintances, but each time it made me cringe. And darned near all of them were due to stupid decisions. I was talking with my good friend and former competitor Matt Chapman at a show last fall and he stopped counting at 60

Awesome video! The guy is doing what he loves so I'm not going to act like an old grandma about it. Fortune favors the bold.

It is shocking to see a video like that.. can't say it is actually enjoyable ... at least for me. One thing I have always loved about RC'in ... we all crash doing dumb things .. but we ALL walk away !

It IS enjoyable for me to try and do some of the things the real acrobatic pilots do .. I'll have to say I could live and not miss a thing if they didn't keep coming closer and closer to the edge - and beyond ! I've only seen one Thunderbird demo in Vegas and a knife edge pass by the crowd on the deck w/o any warning going 400mph did scare the crap out of me !

Well, ummm... Just think about it a little more.

If I'm not mistaken, it was a joke.
