I flew my 300 again tonight. This plane is a great flying plane. I hucked it at about 20 feet. It was fun. I've never 3D'd that low before. It does a wall very solid. Hovers are very easy. Snap rolls stop right where you want them to stop. Harriers at first had a little wing rock, but all I had to do was find the right angle and speed and the wing rock went away. I would recommend this plane to everyone. It is amazing!

Anybody put rear exit MTW's in this plane yet? It looks like I'm going to have to do so fab. work for these to work the way I what,,,,,,I'm thinking of using my 90mm drop headers to bring the exits closer to the bottom of the fuse, which means redoing the can mounts & adding a cap to the tunnel behind the exhaust tips, plus taking out the unused rear tunnel.....no more QB

What are guys using for exhaust extensions that don't fall off?

Nice to hear the plane is fun to fly Paul....

Scotte540, They are called QB cause their biult. Proper setup takes a lot more time then the manual estimates IMO. It usually takes me twice what the manual says. Sweet 300!! Good luck with the maiden!!

Rocco told me at Toledo that silver tips did not present well in the air. You could not see them and it made the wings shorter in the air.

That makes sense, although I do see a color swap of black that could have worked.

Im pumped!!! I ordered all the CF for it and going to put it on a diet. Wish a person could get CF Landing gear. Ill have to start looking. If anyone has any ideas, let me know I wonder if one Hitec 7955 per aileron would be enough?

You will love the red.....I gets lots of compliments on the color scheme........I think with the length and size of the aileron you would risk having problems, running one servo----I think people have over rated the saving weight issue with this plane and the stock plane if your careful will come out under 30 lbs. and fly like a dream-----I know mine does!!

I have just completed this airplane. Mine came in at 26Lbs 9 oz.!!

I removed the canister tunnel because I am running std exhaust and saved almost 5 oz.
also used A123: 2X2300 on reciever, one 1100 on ignition.
4X7955 on ailerons(2 per wing): ailerons are not strong enough for one servo, so use two.
2X5955 on elevators, one 7955 on rudder. I saved a couple of ounces here by using only one servo.
Be careful about using only one rudder servo, consider your flying style.

It is a beautiful airplane and will fly great even at 28 or 29 Lbs considering the wing area.
I am very happy(lucky too) to have come in at 26Lbs 9oz. Ihave not yet maidened it yet, but I am excited to.

Glad you could make it to the feild,,,,,It is gone after June 30 & we have no replacement site yet..................I'm using MTW TDH 75's (rear exit)-----I haven't seen anyone with rear exit standard cans yet......

Mr. G, very light weight--you will have a floater!! I personally would use a bigger battery for your ignition and you are running 7.4 volts with no reg. into the ignition box?

No. it is not the servo torque that limits you, it is the fact that the aileron is long and light and flexible. Even if you had an 8711hv it still wouldn't prevent the aileron from flexing.
I do know of a couple guys doing it successfully on the 260, but they pretty much just hover and harrier all day. if you plan on doing any type of high energy flying go with two servos.
Other ideas for a diet:
three A123 1100's for batteries, about 10 ounces total weight compared to dual 5200's, then a 2600, then 3 regs, which is about 20 ounces of weight.
no power expander. Just a 9 ch reeiver and a Fromeco DC-up plugged into an open port to ensure sufficient power, and dual or triple input leads from a Fromeco Wolverine switch.
cut out the two equipment bays(rudder tray and receiver/batt tray), but leave about a 1" frame around.
drill a 2.5-3" hole on the firewall and sides of engine box.
Use blind nuts instead of nuts and fender washers to mount the engine, and end-grain balsa standoffs capped with 1/32 G-10 instead of the aluminum standoffs.
use a soda bottle instead of the supplied tank.
CF spinner
hack up the hatch to remove a few more ounces.
Little things like this add up.
go to www.graphtechrc.com for CF wing/stab tubes, and they should have CF gear available shortly if they don't already.
