Ok so here i go.. Flight report on the AW Extra 300 100cc QB.

Equipment.... 7 JR 8711 yes they are sloppy. 2 ea wing, 1per elev, 1 rudder
3W 110cs on canisters. Jr 8411 throttle servo.
PowerBox Champion
2 Fromeco 5200 1 2600 on ign.
1 TZB 28-10 prop
Radio was 12z 2.4 with R6014FS 14 ch

Total weight 29 lb

So total build time on this plane was about two days. 3hr each day.
Plane went together at field in about 15 min from pulling it out of the trailer to flipping the prop. Started motor with 4 flips on choke it popped then unchoked it and it started up on the 4th flip. Motor was a little rich but being new and all decided to run it that way.
Went ahead a performed a range check put the futabe 12z at the 50% power mode and preceded to walk about 100 yards and it was perfect. So off to the flight line it was.

I taxied the plane and gave it power and the plane took right off. It needed 4 clicks of down and 2 clicks of left. I flew it around in circles for about a min or so then started to do some point rolls. Man it was like on a rail. Perfect rolls and the roll rate was fast. Motor was a little on the rich side so the throttle response was not as great as i would of liked.

So i kept it hight and decided to trim this plane out. Performed some rudder turns and decided it needed some mixing done. So I landed the plane and preceded to add some rud to elevator. Also leaned out the low end. Before i go any further i have to say that this plane flew so light on the wing it felt like it was 20 pounds. No joke it was extremely nimble.

So after i added some ruder to elevator 4% i removed some aileron throw. I had it set at 40 degrees and this thing rolled like crazy. I brought it down to 35 percent. and also took some elev throw out. I leaned the motor out and gassed her up and off i went. Man it just gets better and better. Motor was ripping throttle transition was smooth and the roll rate was slower still fast but manageable. Point rolls need less input and the plane felt like a foamy. but with attitude.

So after flight two i decided i needed to tweak the motor some and ad some rud to aileron. Did this and gassed her up and took to the sky for flight 3.
EAch time this thing got better and better I started to fly it like it as a 40% i developed more trust in the engine and started to do harrier rolls on the deck and TR on the deck. Oh i almost forgot the elevators on this plane are the best i have ever felt. They have great authority but don't dig in. So the plane does what you tell it to do. The pop ups were the best i have ever seen. The plane departed and slid through the air like it was being pushed by wind. So i decided after 12 min in to the flight i should land and check the plane over. Plane was still in perfect condition nothing loose and it was ready to go.

Time for flight 4, 5, 6 yes that is correct i flew this thing 6 12 min flights and the plane needed Zero maintenance. The plane is ready to go again. If it was not for the sky being so dark and cold i would have continued.
So the out come is with only 6 hrs of build time it is the best finished airplane i have ever assembled and flown in this size. I have flown a lot of airplanes over the last 10 years and i can truly say this plane is the best bang for your buck. What plane can you buy for $1000 bucks or so and have it flying in 6 hrs and get six hard flights on it with nothing wrong at the end.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner...........

Nice plane, and 3Ds well too based on the video. I too agree that some people are too obsessed with weight of a plane. A weight of 28-29# is not bad for a true 35% scale plane. Honestly, does anyone think that if it weighed 26-27# that it would fly any better? I don't think so, and lighter weight might even degrade the performance somewhat in IMAC, especially on breezy days. To get it down to 26# you would probably have to cut back some on the size of the fuselage which would mean less scale of an appearance. What people should be asking is "How does it fly in both IMAC and 3D" and not be overly concerned with how much it weighs. Granted there is a weight that would be unacceptable for a 35% aerobatic plane, but I would put that weight in the 32# or above category, not 29#. Cardens are known for being a little on the heavy side as well, but they are durable and fly really well in IMAC and 3D.

I'm about done. It weighs 29.5 pounds on a digital bathroom scale. I can't believe it. 3 ounce carbon spinner. A123s 2300's. 2000mah nimh on ignition. One tail mount rudder servo. Batteries way up in front of the gas tank. The gas tank is a Fiji water bottle. I built everything as lite as I could and its still 29.5 pounds. I hope it flies well at that weight. With out my receiver or receiver batts it weighs 28.5 pounds what the heck?

I'm going to be purchasing the Extra 300 in the next few days and also want to get some wing bags.
Could one of you that own the plane give me wing measurements.
Wing length, root length and tip length.
Thanks

Wingtote 100cc bags are plenty big, or Aeroworks might have some of theirs available already.
