Default JR 12X Balance Feature with AR9100 rx

Does the balance feature on the 12X work when using a 9 channel rx like the AR9100? I am using 2 servos per aileron and need to know if I need to buy a Matchbox/Equalizer or a 12 channel receiver or use the AR9100 I already have.

Don't know why it wouldn't..... Exactly how you do it and the labeling on your tx would depend on whether or not you have the latest firmware which cleared up some confusion on the balance function. Here's a quote from the Team-Horizon website;

JR Balance Feature

Pepatrick,
I seen your question here a few days ago and made a few calls to
try to get a good answer for you. I talked to Danny Synder at Horizon
and he had a good answer for this question. Danny is the JR product
Developer. Also if you would like to talk to him you can call him at Horizon and he can work with you on some programing questions you might have in the furture.
With that said; here is Dannys answer.
Jeff Holsinger
In 4 servo aileron, the right aileron servos are channels 2 and 7 (aileron and aux 2) which are renamed RAIL1 and RAIL2 in the monitor, and the left aileron servos are channels 5 and 8 (gear and aux 3) which are renamed LAIL1 and LAIL2 in the monitor. In the new updated balance function, the balance function adjusts RAIL1 (the aileron channel, channel 2) and LAIL1 (the gear channel, channel 5). If his radio does not have the programming update, the balance function adjusts RAIL1 and RAIL2, channels 2 and 7.
Thanks!

I have a 50cc Reactor with 4 aileron servos and am using a 9ch spektrum reciever with a 12x. The only issue I had was the balancing of the servos. With them connected per the manual the balance function did not work correctly. There was a thread here about this problem and it had the revised the aileron hookup so that the balance function will work. The JR manual is not too clear about how to use the balance function, at least it was not to me. After I reconnected the aileron servos it worked fine. I understan that this problem has been fixed in the later 12x's, mine was from the first shipment.
