I believe he's using the same motor as me. Hacker A30 14L

I'll run the same prop too. (APC 12x6E)

Yup, mine will have the Hacker A30-14L. However, all my time is on Fred's EXP with the torque motor that is included in the combo. That's the one I based my 12x6E suggestion on. I have also been flying the 12x6E on my 47" Yak with the Hacker motor, and it works equally well there.

Here is my honest take on it. I have the 900 in my EXP and in my 48" Profile Yak. Run both of them on a 4S 2200 mah battery with a 12x6E prop.
I have the 820 in my 47" Yak and run it on a 4S 2200 mah battery as well. I tried the 12x6E prop and the performance was okay. I switched the the 13x6.5E and the performance was awesome and comparable to the 900 on the 12x6E.

I can't really comment on the performance difference between the two, because I never flew those two props on the EXP with the same battery. However, the performance is ballistic on the 12x6E. I felt the plane just flew best overall with the 12x6, but some may like the 13x6.5E better.

For all I know, Fred's had the 900... I think it was the 820 though.

Yes, mine had the 820 and airboss 45 on 4s 2200 - 2650 packs. 12x6 prop then an 11x7 after we crashed the 12x6. And when I say "we"...I think you know what I mean...

Yeah yeah... we being the one who cut down the elevator throw and the one who forgot about it.

It only took me about 2 flights to switch away from that 11x7 though. It was fast, but the thrust angles aren't set right for it, and it would only moderately climb out of a hover instead of light the SRB's and dissappear into low-earth-orbit... terrible.

That's exactly the one!

On a positive note, I'm hoping mine will be here tomorrow... just need to order some batteries, get some graphics made, and I can't wait to get it in the air!

Hey Fred can you try a 13X6.5e and let us know how it goes. I think that you will like it better.

Guys, give RJ a little slack will ya'? He's a great pilot, and we all have our bad days every once in a while.

Should get mine today, so I'll be busy! ;-)

I highly recommend staying with the 12x6 regardless if you use the 900 or 820. The 13x6.5 will pull 50 Amps or more and will reduce the lifespan of your power system and batteries. Quite honestly I can't see needing any more punch than the 12x6 provides, it produces well over 200 Watts/lb and provides ballistic vertical performance while not working the sytem too hard.

On my Vanquish with the 820 I ended up with 12x8. The pull-out was still great. Just gave a better speed range for me. The 13 would just kill the batteries, for more pull-out that wasn't really needed.
