either one will work fine... the 30 might give a little headroom (if they truly are 30c)

buy what makes you comfy, but I have been using the 20c Rhinos with no problems at all....
they have been working better than some packs I have rated higher...

Thanks Curtis..any idea when the motor/esc combos are coming in ?? They have 2650mah and 2200mah either one will be fine I would guess just a little more flight time?

Thanks,
Frank

I'd go with the 30, but like Curtis said, they'll both do the job well!

I just finished a red Extra EXP. It's powered by an AXI 2826/08 turning a 13-6.5 APC, 70 amp speed controller and 3700 ma 25C 3s1p PolyQyest pack, all from Hobby Lobby. Receiver is the Spektrun 6100E parkflyer 6-channel, servos are HiTec HS82 mg's.

With the heavier equipment the plane still flies great.. I went for over-engineered, instead of buying new servos and motor setup to match the model (all these parts were on the shelf). Flight performance is great. . with 3% rudder-elevator mix and 2% rudder-aileron mix for straight and true kinfe edge. Even in 12-15 knot crosswinds on the maiden flight, the plane tracked very straight and true in all angles of attack, whether in KE or wings level.

Build time was a mere 3 hours from box to RTF, and I needed 2 clicks of aileron and 1 of elevator to have a straight flying plane. It could use a throttle-rudder mix to keep things straight during throttle changes, but otherwise the plane flies as true as any 30-35% plane I've ever owned.

With the 3700ma pack, the plane uses 3200-3300 ma in a 10-12 minute flight, flying mostly pattern style manuvers at 1/2+ throttle. I was very impressed by the 3D qualities and easy control in the stalled flight model, especially the way it harriers and holds a hover (especially with the small vertical area), and the more than adequate power for pulling out of hovers, and very effective control surfaces.

Landings were all done in a 12-15 knot cross wind, with the nose about 15 degrees into the wind on approach and touchdown. i tried about 15 landings, both with 10 degrees of flaps and without, and holding slight power till about 1 foot off the ground, then gliding in on the asphalt runway, resulted in very smooth 3-point touchdowns, even with the plane being slightly nose heavy.

I'm going to add some ballast to the tail to get it more neutral, and play with it some more. In 5-6 flights it ought to be perfect, but right now it just flies so well its very impressive. For such a small plane. especially electric powered, I am VERY impressed by it's performance, flying qualities, and the overall ease of assembly and the overall quality of the airframe and covering.

Right now I'm looking at the wing tip SFG's. . . thinking. . High Intensity LED's for night flying. . . . .

A definite win-win-win from Exteme flight. . I love this little plane ! !

I have a few 3s lipos maybe I'll try out. I know it won't have the pullout like it would with an 4s..

I had to jury rig a battery for my fish scale. . . . . .50 ounces AUW with battery pack. The projected weight for a "light" plane, using the 4 lighter servos (about 1.25 ounces total weight), slightly lighter (3/4-1 ounce) motor and ESC, and approximately same weight 4-cell pack is 42-46 ounces. I never thought the "projected weights" of an ARF would be accurate anyway. . . .

I'll take some pics of my servos and setup, along with how the motor fits . .see them in my next post.

I JUST realized that this plane has only been selling for a WEEK ! ! ! Talk about providence. . .I was looking for a small electric for the Huckfest. . and logged onto the Extreme site and saw the plane and HAD to have it . .funy how things work out like that.

Okay. . pics of setup.

1) without 3700 ma pack .. 6100e receiver, 70amp ESC is under the batter tray. Note air exit hole at bottom/rear of canopy area, and air-dam to help create low pressure area to remove warm air from inside the fuselage
2) With battery . .that's one LONG battery
3) Wing servo, HS82MG hitec. . not use of Clevis on servo arm, HD Dubro Arm on servo (same splines as standard servo) in place of pivot-locks supplied in kit
4) Elevator servo, setup the same as wing servos. Elevator easily has 70 degrees of throw in each direction
5) Motor/prop/spinner. . note that the long 2826 Axi extends out from the cowl itself about 3/8" . .then the prop hub with spinner/prop. No problems with cooling were encountered

I find myself wondering how a 2400ma 4s1p pack would work in place of the 3s pack. . .

BTW .. I LOVE the spinner from Extreme Flight. . light. .rigid . .super easy to install and align since it has tthe mating pins as part of the screw bosses . .I'lm gonna use this spinner from now on with ALL my electrics . .i just can't say enough about how impressed I am with the hardware and planes Extreme flight sells.

One Note: The 6100E is a "park flyer" receiver, using DSM2 technology and frequency alignment, but does not have parasite receivers plugged into it. Thus, it is a short range receiver, for park flyers. I flew out at least 1000 feet with no radio signal loss or glitches, and the plane was rrock solid the entire time I flew it.

I am flying mine with a TP 2200 4 cell. I think you might like it better with the lighter packs. I also have a TP 2600 4 cell and I can tell a pretty good difference between the 2 cells. It flies very light on the 2200 packs.

I did a weight comparison on the 2200 and 2500 4-cells, versus the current 3700 3s pack I'm using. The 2500 pack comes in 1.2 ounces lighter, and the 2200 pack comes in about 3.5 ounces lighter. Being the overkill kind-o-guy I am, I ordered the 2500 25c pack this morning. It will be very interesting how a few more volts, and rpm, will affect the performance of the plane, as well as dropping the weight slightly. I do not really see a significant difference in weight between the Polyquest and TP packs, so I'm sticking with the Polyquests.

Did you C/A or epoxy the clevises on the carbon fiber push rods?
I was wondering about the E-Z connectors and crushing the CF rod if too much pressure was applied tightening the screw.
