This will make our job easier on Saturday morning.

Of course, why wouldn't they? but that has nothing to do with this years contest. We already have the jackets.

We had a great first day to a contest, 75 degrees with 2-5mph winds. 52 pilots registered this morning. We got the first plane off the ground at 8:40 and the last plane finished at 5:10. 104 flights, 208 sequences (40 Unlimited sequences ) take along time to fly.

But we finished in time to run an afternoon freestyle contest, 5 pilots flew this event. Jeff Szueber (age 21?) was the old guy in that contest.

This was truely an awesome day of flying!

Sadly we are expecting big wind by noon tomorrow, So I choose to remember today.

Thank you Fromeco, Desert Aircraft, Club Hobbies, and Smart-fly for your sponsorship of this contest. It is greatly appreciated.

This years winners are
Mike Smith Basic
Randy Wegner Sportsman
Kyle Goodwine Intermediate
Brad Hooper Advanced
Jeff Szueber Unlimited
Jeff Szueber Freestyle with Eric Powell just behind him.

We ran one unknown and one known today. The wind never did show so we could have run 2 knowns, but we made the call and we will have to live with it.
I would like to recognize the workers at the contest this year.

First Dean Bird, He did a spectacular job with the flying order, and Judging grid. No pilots saw any judge more then once. He had Mike Austin (pattern guy) and Wally Belfore running each line for him. There wasn't ever dead air.
Joy Jacobsen and her sister Wanda did a great job inputing all the scores and putting up with me for 2 solid days. The kitchen crew made sure that know one went hungry.

And finally I would like to thank all the pilots that came to participate. We are one of the largest IMAC contests every year, without all of you out of towners driving as much as 12 hours to get here this would not happen.

Tony, Rusty and all who helped. This was an awesome contest and my only regret is it was only two days long. Good times and good people make IMAC experiences incredible. Thanks again for hosting a great event. Freestyle Forever.
