How about a new comp instead. Moreton Bay IMAC on 14-15 Aug at the SAAMBR club (formally Prams) - only 40 min North from the center of Brisbane.

Hi all,

I'm on the sunshine coast for a holiday at the moment. Was going to bring the plane with me given that we are 10 minutes from Coolum but ended up being a bit rushed with packing etc. I popped down to the Coolum field today and it must be the sadest site I have seen for a while... not a single pine tree in sight! Pretty much everything around the field was bare earth with large equipment working on a new subdivision. They can still fly there but considering that this was one of the nicest fields around it is a sad reflection of its former glory... I understand the club is relocating to an adjacent site but there is an incredible amount of work the members will have to do for a field that is guaranteed only for the next two years...

Hi Mick, I see you're now a productive member of society again! Congratualations on the new job. Is it a similar role to your previous one?

I've got a Falcon waggon and also love it. Never filled it up with stuff. Great for taking rubbish to the tip and very comfortable to ride in. I can fit my 84" QQ Yak into it plus a spare model and the wife. My previous waggon was a Suburu Liberty. The Falcon was a dog to drive after the Liberty but you soon get used to it and the Ford is a lot more fuel efficient than the Subaru. First thng I did was put a decent set of tyres on the Ford, replacing 40% remaining originals after a few rear end break-aways on wet roads. The good tyres fixed it. I'm driving a Ford XR6 sedan hire car at the moment while away from home, Frankly I'd prefer my Forte waggon. Rides a lot nicer, has softer seats and easier to read instrumentation.

Will you be able to get a height clearance there?

Hi Michael,

Good to see that you are here on the Unshine Coast for a holiday at the moment. The field sure is a shocker to visit now that the Green Slyme Pines have been bold over and that the ugly factories now smack you in the face. Yes, we are moving about 250m to the north/west and the new field should be ready to hand over by about the end of January. Some things will be an improvment on what we have had and some things wont be so good, but overall I think the new field will be fine. Our lease expires Feb, 2013 and we are hopeful of an extended lease agreement at that time. We have had amazing support from local community groups, from the Council and even the State Government ( our landlords ) are busy trying to find us a new site for 2013. The Government is going to Hydro-Mulch about 19 acres for us, so of course we now have to wait for the grass to grow enough before we can operate from the field.
There will be no flying at the present field until 5pm this thursday and friday as the contractors are working on a pipeline at the end of our runway.
If you are wanting a fly I'm sure one of the IMAC boys will accomodate you on saturday or sunday ( Meeting on sunday at 9.30 - no flying while meeting in progress ). Give me a call and I will lend you a model for your holiday period, if you choose.
Say hi to Denise from us.
Cheers, David.

Thanks Dave, we'll be heading back to Brisbane on saturday so won't get a chance to fly but thanks very much for the offer. Glad to hear the clubs predicament might not be as bad as it could be. Actually the weather hasn't been too bad. We did a couple of thai cooking classes at Yandina and have been happy to sit around the cabin and relax. We are staying at a place on Lake Weyba - very quite etc and quite happy to sit around, read a book and enjoy the rain - the only problem is work is rediculously busy so I'm riding the crackberry pretty hard. Was originally going to be up hear on Saturday last weekend but ended up ariving in 10pm sunday night after spending the weekend in the office. However, it is about time I started to seriously look at that 2010 IMAC schedule...

Hey Tony & Kia got the 12FG all sorted. Had some mixing in it from god knows where.

Very nice & powerful radio with tons of features

Yes Hogboy it is a bit sad to see the field this way. The beauty of SMF was one of the reasons Zac and I became full members there (as well as all the great friends we have there). Still, its the people that make SMF and I am sure it will continue to be a great club at the new location in the future and hope we can hold an IMAC event later this year.

Congrats on the new gig Mick
