Hi Vince, Just to close this off. I have no idea of the standard of training offered by your current school or any others operating in Canberra so any comments I have made or make should not be taken to reflect on those flying schools. For the benifet of the young guys who are moving to full size aircraft with a career in mind, I would like to offer this advice in general: The great hobby you enjoy has already set you up for a head start in the flying game. It is extreemly important however to get sound and correct basic full size aircraft techniques taught to you at the abinitio level. What you learn the first time will stick and is very hard to shake at a later time. As you move up through the levels of aircraft sophistication, the wrong basic technique can bring you undone. The human brain can only cope with a few tasks at a time and if your underlying basic flying or instrument flying skills are causing grief, your brain will run to early overload. This will become apparent in the simulator when trying to recall and apply emergency drills, analyse aircaft system faults, manage the flight, cabin, ATC and make sound descisions, while hand flying to required accuracy tolerences with the aircraft in a degraded state. It is all done in steps but each step is in a very short time frame. If you are struggling just to apply a correct basic instrument scan for example, the rest of it will come undone while your brain copes with the results of poorly applied or incorrect basics. Choose your flying school and instructor carefully and well. It's a great career but there is an easy way and a hard way. I envy you young guys just starting out and just wish I could do it all again

There is a GA school at Goulburn, it's on my todo list to check them out but I'm not that keen on adding another 2hrs driving to each flight. At the moment I'm mostly flying early mornings so it doesn't interfere with work too much.

There is also a chance the canberra aero club are going to start a school, apparently waiting on the AOC to come through (although that could take a while with casa).

I'm not going to give up. I hope to buy my own plane one day, trouble is, to afford it I need to work more which leaves less time for flying...... now, where'd I put that lotto ticket

Vince.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation.

Getting permission from the ASAA committee shouldn't be too hard. But getting permission from the WAG's for a comp on Valentines Day could be quite a challenge

Not sure who did the judging guides on the ASAA site this year but they are fantastic.

Just what I needed...often I wonder exactly what I need to know.

Pictures like it has works well for simple folk like me..... I can read it in 5 mins which is about my attention span

Thankyou to who ever did it. much appreciated..
