Yeah, I have seen them done that way before, there always seems to be a rpm drop on the 4 cylinders when done that way. I'm not convinced that's the best way, I may have a little bit of testing to do yet!

Having the exhaust from both cylinders meeting each other directly in the middle like those photos would affect the exhaust gas pulse and put it all out of tune wouldnt it?? kind of equal out each other out and kill the scavange affect of the cans / pipes... ???
You need headers like the ones on Bam Bam's Mintor... 2 into 1 collectors... So each cylinder can discharge directly into the can un-affected by the flow from the other cylinder.... I think... Could get a bit fiddly though.... Good luck with that one Richo!!

There is 180 deg difference in the firing order on the front cylinders to the rear cylinders. When the front exhaust port is open the rear is closed. Certainly the pulse waves would be happpening a whole lot quicker.
