Arguing about weight? Who gives a crap? My 30% Yak weighed 18 pounds and it still fly great on a DA50. A buddy of mine had a 48 pound Yak on a DA150 with mufflers, and it was fine too. I will never understand alot of guys facination with needing to blast out of a hover like a rocket ship, there is just no need.

I think it's the foamy factor. A lot of these guys fly foamies to the extent that they think that this is how all RC planes are supposed to fly. I like my planes to be able to do BIG vertical manuevers without running out of poop, but they don't have to be able to rocket out of a hover. If I wanted all my planes to perform like foamies, I'd buy only foamies.

I second that,
Unless your at the level of a Quique or leesberg or even Kyle, where you can actually come up with new 3d maneuvers using that extra power its just a waste. Any newer monoplane in the 1300 wing area range can handle higher weights with no ill affects to it's 3D ability. In fact, flying a plane with less power to wieght requires more skill to 3D smoothly and is a great learning tool. |
