There are no higher capacity packs available. You can buy a clone pack and kep it charged as a back up. Mine goes about 2 hours per charge.

The clone pack is the Sony NP-F570. It is a 2200 mAh lithium pack. Runs about $44 from Amazon and similar. Versus nearly $90 for the Futaba pack.

I have the Sony pack and it has worked flawlessly for me for over a year now.

What Judge said works great for me to.

Sony does make some higher capacity packs that use the same mounting, but they are taller and you would have to leave the back door open. I have not tried this yet, I would hate to bump the battery and have it fall out in the middle of a flight, knowing how long it takes to do a cold start.

Badge,

Check and see how long you have the backlight setting on for. I have mine set to about 30 seconds from memory as if that thing is on for long it sucks the juice right out of the pack.

Programming mine eats batteries. Flying it is not a problem.

The Sony npf-570 battery works great! The price on Amazon seems to fluctuate as I have bought a couple for as low as $32.00. Even when I use their free shipping, I get the batteries within two days.

I agree with the gent that said to check how long your back light is on. I have never used more than two packs while out flying.

You just make sure it is a real Sony Battery, there are some cheap immitations out there that use the Sony case but the batteries are not, real Sony Packs have something that is compatible to use with accesories that have the capacity reader.(the little battery on the top right corner of the display that shows how much battery power is left) . I bought mine at Wal-Mart $56.00 and it works good.

I have a sony np-f570 and it works the same as the futaba one.
I get slightly over 2 hours on either one, depending on backlight usuage.
