Default 3D models in Catia..V5

Hi all,

I have just joined the training program for Catia, hope to learn some 3D model construction. Actually i wanted to learn Solidworks but the institute dose not teach that software so i am learning Catia,

any other suggestions is it possible to create 2D drawing for laser cutting on a Catia software.

Yes... generally speaking... laser cutters and Waterjet cutters prefer DXF files... and Catia will produce that.....

I really love Catia... great program!! I'm using it since I joined Aeronautical Engineering University in Madrid. Here you have a photo of the foamy I desinged with Catia. You can make the 2D plans of the parts with Catia, convert it to DXF format, and have it cut with a CNC machine.

Catia, Pro-E, Unigraphics..... it can take years to become a super-user....

I have prolly 12000 hours of Pro/E and I am still learning... they are constantly adding to the software....

Catia is a perfekt tool to generate what you are looking for. With some basic knowledge in surface and solid-modelling you can make nice airplanes in an astonishing speed and with almost endless scalability due to Catias very powerful way of handeling parametric inputs. Some time ago I designed this airplane using Catia. Unfortunately I did never had the time to built it...

Dear Harrys,

I'm a CATIA user for about the last 15 years and during the winter'09, I decided to design my new project Extra 260 - 43% with V5 update.

At this point all my parts are already laser cut, my next step is used CNC router to produced the cowling plug. This is the forum link, heum in french but that give you a idea: http://www.peneloperc.com/index.php?...d=605&catid=14 plus you have a link for my assembly JIGS and many pictures availables

I send to you few pics:

Catia 5 Is made from Solidworks. Catia bought Solidworks and used it to do #5. I used Catia 4 at lockheed before #5. I use Soldworks 2008 now ate home and it is way easer then Catia. Solidworks will do as much as Catia. I did a target drone for a customer the size of a F16 complete with all internal structure. If you have cosmo it will stress any part. and it will give you the CG of any part or assy.
I added a couple jpg's assy of one of my planes and a 3D loaft from a jpg.
