Ok, someone please clarify...
The Saito 82 uses an Air Bleed carb, so just like any other carb "in" on the high needle is leaner, but "in" on the low end needle should be richer because you're adjusting the air mix, not the fuel. Am I missing something here? Earlier in the thead I was directed to lean the engine by adjusting the low end needle in 2-4 turns "in" Sorry I'm used to OS, Saito is new to me, maybe someone can explain. I just want to make sure I'm adjusting in the correct direction. Thanks Ernie |

Low and high end: Clockwise = leaner, Counter clockwise = richer
Low end, 2-4 turns in from factory setting of flush. |

Quote: The flush initial setting of the LS needle was with the metal throttle lever. With the later plastic lever the flat of the LS adjuster is roughly 1/16" down at the factory setting - the thickness of the plastic at that point. : end quote

That might explain why my seting seems a lot richer than it needs to be. Ernie |

Your very welcome.
The Saito engine line has improved drastically in the last 20 years. They don't really have many duds in the lineup. You might want to give Bill Robison's note a good read. I think it's here, but I know its over at rcu. Luck, Dewayne |

I can get my 82 to run great on the ground and as soon as I hold it vertical with nose up and run throttle up and down it wants to die. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to richen the high end or low end to fix the problem?

Steve, do a quick check of the fuel tank, could be the clunk is turned to the front of the tank, might be the problem.

I think my 82 runs at about 1.5 out from memory, perhaps its 2.5 but someone said it before it, factory settings mean nothing, the needle needs to be set where the engine wants it. They come super rich from the factory and knock and carry on because the bottom needle is way too fat.
