Some of the work on the rudder. This is a slow process as you don't wan't to just burn through the foam to the other side. I use a small disk on my dremel and work slowly. Take out the top layer of glass along the cracks leaving the foam and glass on the inside. The disk makes a concave trough with enought glass on the outside for the new glass to blend into. The repair will be stronger than the surrounding area but not add much weight.

:7aa: Yea it's all it's cracked up to be, the bottom is the worst. I'm working on several pieces at once so I can keep busy while epoxy cures. Then it's sand ,fill, sand, fill some more, sand some more then paint. Rudder and left stab should be in paint by Friday.

As you can see I have the PC right in the shop so I can take pics, upload and check my retirement stock portfoilo without leaving the shop.

They only let me hold the bottle, didn't get to keep it for use on flapjacks.

Doesn't matter much as I like my flapjacks with butter only.

Can you explain/show how you fixed the hole in the surface from the picture.

Spray foam used lightly and clamp lightly to prevent blowouts. Very stiff after the foam cures. Carve and sand then 3/4 oz. cloth on top. That's tonight's project along with glassing some more cracks. I also used the foam in the lower part of the rudder as it was basically crushed, small weight added but much stronger than before. More pics tonite.
