This plane has been revised in the most crutial area of the previous splatball 1/3 580...
The fuse!

The fusulage is much lighter that the previous due to the use of Spruce/hardwood stringers
that follow the bottom of the fuse (instead of the grade C balsa that they had placed on the bottom and on the sides.....
Lightening holes everywhere, and provisions for a Short/wide can install....

They basically used the 1/3 chapman splatball plane as a platform and made the fuse
buy utilizing all of those new, lightweight building techniuqes.......

IF you look in the building manual, you will be amazed at the quality of the fuse....
They even lightened and made the engine mount smaller, so you can have more room for you
muffler or you headers for you in cowl canisters.....

I believe that the additional wingspan has been due to widening the fuse, so that you have more
room for the canister mufflers....

It will take the MTW 12K THese are shorter and wider than the MTW 12 canisters

They have also, taken out the front wintube option (that was on the spatball scheme) to allow for the canister muflers.....

Other modlers of the splatball scheme have done something very simular to there's
The picture is of the SPatball scheme not the new one, that they have removed the front wingtube option
to allow for the additional leghth, that was needed for the canisters..... I am not sure if these are even the shorter
version as these do not look as wide as the MTW k...

$999 is too much for this plane. It is smaller than other planes in it's size, yet it cost more. I lost all interest after I saw the price. $899 seems more reasonable.

Go to your hobby shop and offer them $899 for one.....or see what Donald's sells them for...$999 is probably MAP price. I'm sure that some resellers will sell them a few $$ cheaper if they don't have to stock them.

Looks like a nice plane but not for $999. I see they raised the price on the old "Splat" plane from $699 to $799 now.

I bet their gonna raise the prices on all their giant scale and regular arfs, just like horizon hobbies did it! Good thing i already have the old version, which looks much cooler than this one and was much cheaper. Lastly the old edition may be heavier but its stronger!

Looks great.

Free market as it is guys, the market will bear what it can bear. If you think it's too expensive, then don't buy it. The scheme looks great though, and it's definitely tempting indeed.

I am looking forward to that.

Judging by the performance of their smaller "Performance Series" Cap 232, Great Planes has worked all the "bugs" out to the Cap airframe by raising the wing and lowering the stab.

Made CRAZE!!! ....those nuttballs raised the saito 3-cyls and 5-cyle to around 500$ more than what they had them at before!!....2000$ for the radial??? NO thanks..... I will go pick up a 3w 220 4-cyl or a 3M Mintor 220 4-cyl beut for
2400$ gas engine....and it would sound heckof alot better....
