Sorry mate - things have been a little hectic of late and have had a few health dramas - sorry for not getting to Dalby... Back on deck now and looking forward to doing some flying. The little flights I have had of the 260 - VERY impressed, might just be the good build job

Is it possible to get the futaba or JR sceme on the 260 from the factory? I think they would look awesome.
Well I did go with the yellow 260 as that's the easiest color for me to see, but there is always the option of getting whatever you want as mentioned but it's not cheap. I've a friend who ordered one of the 2.6 300 Extras with a custom scheme. Cost him an extra $500.00 and shipping time will depend on the schedule from Comp-Arf a bit, but his took 5 months to the USA.

I'm flying the old Extra 330L and I agree. It slows down marginally better than a pylon racer 28x10 mejzlik doesn't help either. Love the plane though.

I voted for the Yak. The Extra 330 has more serious mix issues. The 260 would be my second choice. The Yak 2.6M is a low mix plane right off the table and has a better over speed envelope.

I've recently put my 2.6m Yellow Kiwi 260 for sale after 2 years of flying. DA100, MTW cans, various props.

Minuses
It is very, very fast (you have to really manage that throttle)
It is harder to get locked in with a 3-blade (it really likes a 28x10x2 - I use the PT for noise since the Mej RIPs like crazy)
Moderate coupling - no worse than any other Extra
Never could get mine to snap consistently...
Looks like a pylon racer more than an Extra

Pluses
Light
Beautiful lines - rock solid on level and 45 lines upright and inverted
Grooves like a Pylon racer in turns
Cans fit easily
Assembles fast
Rugged and reliable for IMAC

You should re-enforce the gear brackets when you build it just in case you have a rough landing. I never did have any bad ones but my main field is very rought and I have had zero issues.

I flew Intermediate last year and the 260 was my backup. My 40% 3W 330s definately flew a lot more predictable and slower. I am trying a Krill Yak this year too.

When I say fast - it has a WIDE speed envelope... it just wants to RUN so you have to learn to back off compared to othe rplanes (and yes I did have a throttle mix etc.)

Put a 26x12x2 on it and you'll be screaming past all those "fast" warbirds like they're standing still LOL.

I VOTED THE EXTRA 330 JUST BOUGHT A YAK 3.3M EVERYBODY TELLS ME MAINLY FOR 3D. MY 2.6M 330 EXTRA BUILD BY VIC 3D A MEMBER OF FLYINGGIANTS FROM PUERTO RICO FLY'S AWSOME HAVEN'T COMPETED IN ANY IMAC BUT MY BROTHER HAS COMPETED IN PATTERN AND FLEW IT AND FELT IN LOVE WITH IT. I THINK IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW GOOD YOU TUNE AND MIX YOUR PLANE, OR HOW GOOD YOUR FINGERS ARE.

What is the verticle power like with the yak and DA100 on pipes? The 85 in my sukhoi works well but if you bog a verticle snap it can be a little slow to exit out the other side, and if you exit off line it looks messy getting it striaght again. I want to be able to power out of verticle snaps even if you screw it up. Not sure that the draggie yak airframe would allow you to do that without huge power.

Seriously there's no need at all to run pipes on a 2.6 Compy with a 100cc twin. Unless you just don't feel like a man without tuned pipes, they are just added weight.

I think I'm going to need to see some pics to help me decide. The pics on the Comp-arf website aren't real good.

What are typical weights of the C'Arf 2.6M Yak? 28 lbs?
