Hi
Im a newbie on this forum really, been flying for ages but only just got into DLG. Got a problem, i have built a QFII to practice before getting anything expensive, and its come in at a grand 250 grams. Problem is with most of my launches the glider seems to roll left and sometimes tries to end up inverted. I am also not getting much height ( 20 meters i suppose?) I know my technique is crap but i must have some fundamental flaw somewhere that someone can help with. Please help, Ben England |

I'm no DLG specialist by any means but a lot of the DLG planes were using a gyro to stabilize the plane during launch. The ones with longer tail moments and larger rudders seem to get away without the need of a gyro. I don't think 20m of launch height is all that bad for a beginner. More practice?

wings dead straight which is good considering i made it.
I know they used to use giros but i thought that was not so common now. I need to stop the roll!! |

My competition DLG buddy uses a the trainer switch programmed to hold the rudder, elevator, and ailerons in the necessary position during launch and when released it goes back to normal "lift hunting" mode. Hope this helps.

Your most likely getting a bit of flex in your boom on launch. You will need to set an offset switch with a little bit of right rudder and possibly a little right aileron. Just remember dont try and launch verticly you should be launching with the nose just above the horizon. Once you get into higer end DLG like my BlasterII and Sophia etc you will find the booms are much stiffer and you wont need much if any offset.

I'm looking for buying 2nd hand high performance DLG in good condition. Is there anyone trying to get rid of one? I noticed there are not many of them for sale. |
