Default RCGF 20cc gas engine on a 63" profile Yak-54

For those of you who want to get out of the Nitro blues, I have mounted a Aerovate (RCGF) 20cc gas engine on my 63" profile Yak-54 that I got from Cedar Hobbies (ebay). I replaced an old super tigre .75 and the plane woke up a bit. The plane calls for a 60-120 size engine, the AUW with the .75 was a tad over 6.7lbs and with the RCGF 20cc its about 7.5lbs with 16oz per sq. ft. wing loading. Its a floater, the pull out is not ballistic but its pretty decent. The engine will spin a 16x6 prop at over 9000rpms, I'm getting 8500 right now with a APC 16x6 running lawnboy 32/1 mix about 3/4s of a gallon so far, I still have to tweak it a bit.

you can get more info on the engines here... www.zrcgf.com

here are a couple videos...

Hows it been Black B. Yes I'm still at it! The plane combo is very nice and I just had to ad 2 oz of lead to the tail for good 3d performance. I could get rid of it by moving my battery back a little to a remote location but I don't feel like doing it.

Ya know, tryn to sweeze a dolla out of fifteen cents. I noticed one of your favorite moves. Straight line, into the vertical, half roll, positive pull over the top, downline to a positive exit. Your not the only one that can call maneuvers.

The plane flew knife edge very well. I thought you were going to do a rolling vertical loop. Your point rolls were nice. You have to much skill for me to give you credit for flying in the wind. The angle of attack while in a hover was a good indicator of relative wind velocity.

Im speculating, but maybe prop the gas motor for torque rather than RPM. Have you thought about using a wood propellar. Maybe the same size, but increase the pitch. RPM will decrease, but you will not have to jocky the throttle as much. On your profile, you will reduce P-Factor while also reducing undampened oscillations.

The engine is still new and breaking in I don't want to over torque it, My LHS did not have any good wooden props in stock, I'm going to order a nice Xoar 3d wooden prop once I get a chance.
