Well my son has been building this kit from scratch and is nearing completion, the major things missing are the servos and engine, now we are talking hardcore 3D performance here and really dont know if I should go 2 stroke or 4 and either way which one to get. I have never had any success with a 4 stroke and found the OS 90 to be very close to the OS 60 in performance. In any case I have been very far from nitroes for some time now..... GASSERs all the way but I need help choosing this one.
All inputs welcome but also please provide the recommended prop for each of your choices. Bottom line is I want my son to enjoy this plane so I want to make sure I have a reliable power plant. |

If you want to go 2 stroke, get an OS 1.20AX. Perfect for the Fusion. For 4 stroke, the YS 1.10 or Saito 115 or 125 are the engines of choice.
The Fusion is a really great flyer. 3D's very well, and can fly precision well, also. |

I had one with the AX120 and one with the Saito 125 and one with a YS110S.The YS had amazing power but the flight time was very short due to tha fact that the motor is a nitro hog.The Saito also had great power but the airframe was not a big fan of the low rpm vibrations.I liked the OS the best because it had the same power as the Saito but the OS had much less vibrations and the flight times where great. With the price of nitro now adays i will stick to OS,10% fuel is only 18 bucks a gal,the Saito loves 30% heli and last i checked it was 28 bucks a gal.If you want more power from the OS,check out Weston Genisis 3D throttle pipes, these things are amazing.Good luck with the Fusion, it is a killer plane,my new 80" Fusion is almost done

I've had three here at OMP. 1st one had an OS .91FX and is the one Andrew Jesky is flying in the video online. That plane is still flying strong with the .91FX. My personal one had a YS 110 and was an amazing combination with INSTANT throttle response. That plane was lost last year in a midair.
Third one was outfitted with the new OS 120AX and I like that combo as much or more than the YS 110 combo. With the 120AX, the motor is cheaper, you can run 10% and it has essentially the same power as the YS. The advantage of the YS combo though is that instant throttle response. Actually really amazing with a 16-4 or 16-6 prop.

either the 120OS, the saito 125 (or even the115), or the YS will be awesome power.. just use your personal judgement on what you like best. all are proven bada$$ on this bird
my personal fav. is the 125, but i am just a saito guy

1.20AX & Xoar 17-6
![]() I put a macs header and aluminum beer bottle muffler on mine and gave it more power. I should have my 80" ready in a few days. The 67 flys way better than the 52 so the 80 should really rock. Larry |

Poulan 46 gas. Same as Brilleli. Had trouble starting it after sitting a
few years and had to send to builder to look over. Should have it back today. If it doesn't work out I'll put at least a 1.60 glow on. Larry |

Not trying to hijack this thread but, do you think a Saito 1.80 would be enough for the 80" plane? Salmon thinks so. Does anyone think that a 1.80 might work on this 67" plane. Is that pushing it?

Saito 1.80 on 80" should work fine. Keep it light. 1.80 on 67" no way.
I have a 1.20AX on my 67 and it's almost too much. Buy the way my 80" with the gas 46 weighs 13 1/2 lb, so with the Saito you could get down to the 12lb range. Larry Last edited by Grnd0; 05-05-2009 at 10:22 AM. Reason: added more info |
