It sure is, infact the stock DA mufflers come pre drilled for a nipple which they supply or a screw to seal it. All I did was to run a tap through it and I was good to go. Actually tried it out today for the first time. I was using a Sullivan Skywriter and it worked great, had to turn down the pump so it was barely turning over and it still gave me great smoke, not to mention being very efficient at the same time.

Do the gas mufflers not need the pre heat coil? Just shoot the oil directly in ehh? I am tempted to smoke one someday.

Yeah you'll be fine if you shoot it right in, no pre heat is needed. Not sure what tanksize will give you 3 or 4 minutes of smoke. In the past I always tried to put the same size or close to the same size smoke tank as the fuel tank.

I would use a 16oz, dont shoot the smoke into the cannister, thats not as hot as the header pipe, shoot it into the header pretty close to the engine but not too close so the oil gets into the cylinder.
