Default SERVOS

Hi-

I'm new here. I am also looking into buying my first plane.

I am going to buy an Extra 300s.

The website says I need to buy a 4-channel radio with four servos.

I would like to spend a maximum of $100.00 on the 4-channel radio with four servos.

Any Ideas?

Thank you.

what size plane do you want.i don't think a four channel will be what you want,it is the bear minimum in radios and if you are going to go big a seven channel is as small as i would recommend.i know this don't fit the 100.00 budget but truth is truth

Someone tried to. Help yourself and pick a plane with more detail. An extra is very manueverable and can be VERY touchy with a basic four channel radio, especially if you set up anything other than minimal throws. This will limit the capability of your chosen plane and it will still be touchy at center.

You want help and are yelling. Here you go.

GET A RADIO WITH DUAL RATES AND EXPO. IT WILL DO THAT TYPE OF AIRFRAME MORE JUSTICE. YOU WILL NEED TO ADD 50-75 TO YOU BUDGET. IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD THAT IT WILL NOT CHANGE MY ADVICE. IF I WAS BUILDING THIS MYSTERY PLANE I WOULD ALSO BUDGET MORE FOR BETTER SERVOS. NOW GO PICK SOMETHING.

well some people can't take it if it isn't what they want to hear, a four channel radio will fly a 46" airplane but you won't be happy with it so you need to get the best you can afford and good luck----i tried

Here’s my two cents. I see you do not belong to the AMA. I’m guessing that you have limited experience flying RC planes? Save yourself some aggravation and money, join the AMA and a local club. They will teach you how to fly. Learn to fly on a less advance plane before jumping head first into an EXTRA. A Great Planes U Can Do is a great plane to start off with.
Don’t buy a cheap radio, this is what flies your investment!

Any "standard" servo will fly this plane. If you want to save some money, go with Hobbico servos. You can buy them through Tower Hobbies. The planes manual will tell you the tork spec. that you will need.

One thing to remember. Once it's in the air, gravity will make it come back down whether you want it to or not!

First, sorry. I did not know caps lock was on. Next, thank you for your help. Do you know if a

Hitec Laser 4 channel FM Radio with 4 HS-300 Servos - 156721 would work well?

That depends on the airplane, like what a few other guys mentioned above. Tell us what airplane is this for, and we can better help you.

In my opinion, a 4 channel radio will not do an airplane like that justice. You need at least a 6 channel radio with exponential, and dual rates at the bare minimum. Thats my .02 worth though.

I recommend a Spectrum DX6I . It's a good radio to start with, and electric is also a great option for a plane of that size. Electric would give great power and is easier to use without the mess of glow. Don't under estimate electric power .

There are probably 50 manufacturers of the Extra 300s. Who makes it? Do you even know how to fly? Sim time is not enough, 98.7% of the time either. If you are not an experienced pilot with low wing and taildragger experience you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
Do you have a link to this plane?

Unless you have spent the hours flying on a SIM or with someone else's plane, you are stepping in over your head..... An EXTRA 300 will not make a good 1st plane. YOU NEED A TRAINER PLANE TO START WITH. Learn how to fly first. As mentioned elsewhere, I know this isn't what you want to hear, BUT you did ask for help. I think this is the best advice for you right now.
