Default Nats?

I will be attending the Nats this year for the first time, and I have a question regarding noise during the IMAC Nats. I am going to be flying a Yak with a DA 100 on stock mufflers and a Mejzlik 3 blade 25-12s prop. I was woundering if the airplane would be too loud and if it is will it severely down grade your scores. Also, I see that the Nats will be taking place June 29, June 30, July 1, and July 2. Will all the pilots need to be there a day or two before the competition? Last, I would like to know how many flights take place a day, and what is usually the squedule is like during the whole week.

I cant answer any of your technical questions but can answer one.
Several of us try to get there a day or two early. Get in some last minute practice and hang out with your buddies.
Look forward to meeting you since we have flown up in Alliance a few times before we moved to Kentucky.

Flyboy glad to hear you are coming out, you will have a great time. There will be plenty of 100's on stock mufflers at this event, most running 2 bladers. You will not have to worry about sound.

Does prop noise matter at all, or is the noise rule not in affect at the Nats? I was originaly running a vess 27-10.

Hey Adam,

Two years ago, I flew a 102" Yak (Gen 2) in Intermediate with stock mufflers and a 2 blade prop. You get knocked a couple little points but nothing major. I actually got a couple 10s on my sound score. I made sure I managed my throttle well, and didn't open up and rip the prop unless I absolutely had to. On a 3 blade, I doubt you will have much issue, as long as you manage your throttle well.

Not all the pilots need to be there two days before the event. However, there is a judges meeting (normally 6:30PM) the day before the contest starts, and they pass out unknowns and stuff there, and also have a lot of useful info. Pilots are not required to attend, but I highly recommend you do. I've normally shown up the day before to get a couple flights in the day before, and then thats it, I don't show up several days before like some people do.

When they pass out the unkowns, do they pass them out to the pilots too, and do they pass out all of the unkowns for the whole week.

They pass them out to the pilots. You get the unknowns the night before you have to fly them.

Are you going to try to make any of the other contests leading up to the Nats?

Will there be an unkown on the first day? I am guessing that the freestyle will be the very last day.
