Default Newbie needs advice for sig CAP 231

I bought a used SIG Cap 231 and want to know if a DL50 would be a good choice? Previous owner had a saito 180 in it and said it was under powered. What do I need to do with the mounting lugs for the Saito in the firewall, can I drill more holes in the firewall and maintain structural integrity? Also what servo would you all recommend. Thanks

Andrew I think the DL 50 will be a bit too much for your Cap.I think a 40cc would be a better choice for that airframe.

A gas engine would be too much for the Sig Cap, I had one with a OS 160 with Pitts muffler and APC 18x8 prop. It was awesome.

I honestly would have to agree with you.I knew a guy who had this plane and he had a First Place 2.4 Gasser on it and even that was pushing it.The glow would be a better choice as you stated.

Hey Anderman,

Did you get an engine for this plane yet? Nice looking plane, I am looking forward to seeing it in the air.

I can't imagine that the Saito 1.80 with at least 10% nitro would be too little for a 6 foot Cap. Maybe if it weighed 14 plus lbs. Gas wise a G-26 should be plenty. A 50cc needing at least a 22" prop would cut worms on takeoff !
