Default What's The Voltage To A Glow Plug?

Bought a glow plug starter that attatches to a battery today. Hooked it to my field battery, put in a used glow plug and it burned out instantly. Obviously too much voltage. Does anyone know how many volts a glow plug is meant to handle. (Went to OS's web site but to stats.)

glow plugs are meant to handle 1.2 volts-ish. you CAN NOT plug your glow driver directly into your 12v field battery as it will burn them out. you must run the 12V field battery into a power panel then attach the driver to that panel where it will deliver the proper voltage.

you can also get an portable ignitor which usually have their own NiMH or NiCD cells and are rechargeable
