Best Carbon Fiber Pushrod Ends

Have you guys bought any CF pushrod ends from www.connectorsRC.com ?

Do they work as well as they look? Price is half of what Central sells em for.

Those are stainless as opposed to titanium. You cannot compare the prices as they are not similar. Are the insides of the ones you have grooved to help lock them to the rod? If they are smooth inside, I would always wonder about adhesion.

Since these pieces are so tiny, the weight difference is less than a gram. The 40 sized ones weight 1.2 grams, and the larger ones are around 2.6 grams!

The difference between inserts and capture is simple: Get a 1 inch piece of pipe (needs to be kinda heavy) and try to use 2 fingers to pick it up using only the inside of the pipe. Now try to pick it up from the outside......much easier right?

The difference is that the capture style have significantly more surface area to glue to.

Also, these protect the carbon tube ends from splitting / splintering. Grab a central hobbies pushrod from the end and try to break it out of the tube. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to split the Carbon Fiber...

Lastly, someone gave me some great advice on another website...if you would like some additional insurance with capture style....After your pushrod is finished gluing, drill a tiny hole through end and pushrod. Put a drop of thin CA in the hole and push a T pin through it. After it's dry, cut off the ends that stick out.....

Hmmm. Never had one fail or get loose. I also realize that the force on a PUSH rod is linear unless the geometry causes a bind. That would be poor setup. So taking one and twisting it sideways is a poor test of capability. These end look nice. Not as streamlined as others or as secure IMO.

Been using the titanium ones from Central Hobbies for the past 7 or 8 years and have never had a problem from 1.20 sized planes up through 40% planes. Far more 28% through 35% planes than any others. I have no need to change from what I know works effectively and without failure to save a few pennies up front. None have ever failed under any flight load.

I'm confident these will be just fine. I've been using threaded rod glued inside the CF tubes and then capped off with shrink tubing (for looks mainly) on planes up to 35%. With clean and sufficient length of threads inside the tube (3/4" for me) they are nearly bullet proof. The capture style will simply improve on the glue surface area more. The others, with the inside grooves, are more of a marketing thing as they will not change the failure mode ...that being shear in the glue or glue to part interface. If the glue, in the case of the grooves, is thicker it will still fail at the maximum shear strength of the glue. Surface area and, in our case, length of the glue joint is far more important than local thick spots of glue.

I use flexible CA (CA/Rubber Tire glue for RC Cars/Trucks). I would think epoxy would be just as good. I believe some have had trouble with "hard" glues like regular CA.
